Re: Trooper 3.1TD Vs Frontera 2.2 DtiI had a '96 3.1 Trooper, I have not long got rid of it and got the 2.2 DTI Frontera, only because I wanted something newer and less miles.
I liked the Trooper a lot, and would recommend one to anybody. Mine was great on fuel, went very well indeed. It had so much grunt, I hardly ever changed gear, would pull everywhere in top. Nice high clear view of the road. The 2.2 DTI Frontera is a newer car, it is a lot lower, the driving position is sports car like compared to the Trooper. It has a stiffer ride and corners better- less roll compared to the Trooper. The boot space is a little smaller in the Frontera, because of the sloping back end. The Trooper being straight, with the two back doors it is a lot better and easier in my opinion. I used to get 29/30 MPG out of my Trooper (I used to keep it around 65 on bypasses etc, regularly serviced, and the roads are a lot straighter here in France), and it was a very easy relaxing drive. The Frontera feels gutless compared to the Trooper. You have to change gear a lot more and rev it more. I think the 3.1 Trooper has a more robust easier to maintain engine, from what I have read on hear I am constantly waiting for the Fronty to pack up, (and as such I am thinking of selling it again after I re-register it here)
Re: Trooper 3.1TD Vs Frontera 2.2 DtiGood post Bully.
I watched a 3.0 2000 'V' plate Trooper go through the block today but it went for silly money (£1800)
Re: Trooper 3.1TD Vs Frontera 2.2 DtiNice one Bully.
See its not just me that likes the Trooper The Mk.IV Trooper still holds its value ... even though it has a bit of a bad rep. Though considering the number of them on the road compared to the ones with issues they are good trucks. ![]() ![]() My members ride For Banshee the Trooper : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=34626 My members ride for Leeloo the Lotus Edition viewtopic.php?f=46&t=60154 Deceased My members ride for Brenda the Bighorn : viewtopic.php?f=46&t=54771
Re: Trooper 3.1TD Vs Frontera 2.2 DtiSeemed a bit much to me. The drivers door had been painted and had thumb marks in it
I wouldn't have paid much than £1100 for it.
Re: Trooper 3.1TD Vs Frontera 2.2 DtiI would go with the trooper myself, miss our 95 model monterey. SOOOOOOO comfy, relaxing to drive and spacious. Wait untill late spring when the prices will drop a few hundred pounds and see what bargains are to be had. Looking for one myself at the moment. Think Isuzu are putting a stop to the recalls, so if you are looking at a 3.0l make sure it has all been done.

Re: Trooper 3.1TD Vs Frontera 2.2 DtiIt was this shape http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/00-W-ISUZU-TROOPE ... 548wt_1139
But it was the LWB Citation model . What MK is this ?
Re: Trooper 3.1TD Vs Frontera 2.2 DtiMk.IV ... all 3.0's were Mk.IV. The body is essentially the same ... its the front grill that gives it away.
