new carLooking for another 4x4 but not quite sure what to go for. Got to be diesel and lwb. Not finding the driving position of A series comfortable any more. Being 6'5" I need head and leg room, but the biggest downside to the A is an unajustable seat. I need to be able to have support under my thighs. How adjustable are the seats in a B series and what is the economy like in the 2.2dti? Have also been looking at discoverys because the seating is more upright but I'm not sure if the boot floor space is big enough for my dog. Always loved the troopers but they drink diesel. Any imfo from B owners would be good.

Re: new carmy 2.5 A series has a height adjustable drivers seat ,maybe a seat change could be an option ?
Veni Vidi Lychee I came I saw I ate fruit
Re: new carhi mate im 6 4" with size 12 feet & its a bit tight getting behind the wheel for me in my b, even when the seat as far back as it goes theres very little support for my thighs, if only the seat rails went back a few inches more & the seat had a longer base cushion, luckilly i only use it for short journeys as its not that comfortable, granted i aint got adjustable steering but ive sat in a shorty a & theres seems to be more room in them
edit - my seat is not adjustable for height but if it were then it would be probably be higher off the floor & then my head would be rubbing the roof Last edited by fogman on Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:58 am, edited 2 times in total.

Re: new carMPG on the Dti is low to mid 30's , but like anything it depends how much lead is in your right boot.
I've had a Disco and must say that with the exception of a 2.2 HLS Austin Princess, it had the most supportive and comfortable seat I have ever had in any car.
Re: new carI get roughly 32mpg from my 2.2 dti, thats on a 18 mile return trip to work, engine's barley warmed up.on a longer trip around 35mpg.
I've got one moan, the seat could be a little longer otherwise it's ok.and if i'am truthful they where a bit stingy on the sound deadening. Tucker...2.2 DTI Irmscher.
Re: new carThe seat goes back and forth, but what I meant was the seat squab doesn't adjust. My head is brushing the roof as it is, so being able to tilt the squab back increases headroom at the same time as supporting the thighs more. We used to own a monterey/trooper and you do get spoilt by the vast amount of room. I thought the 3.1 trooper was only good for 25mpg, but if 30 is poss, then may look for another. Do like the td5's but the boots aren't the biggest. Wish they would hurry up and biuld the ideal vehicle

Re: new carWhats the best 2.2dti to go for, were there different versions of the engine, some more prone to pump failure etc.

Re: new carthe older versions pump was more prone to failure approx £500 to repair the newer version should be more reliable but a lot more expensive to repair when they do go, have read 2k for replacements

Re: new carGoing to have to disagree with Foggy here.
From the (what feels like thousands) of threads I have read on these both here and elsewhere the pumps don't appear to be any more reliable on the Y22's,but I certainly agree they are wayyyyyyyyyyyy more expensive to replace.
