General Engine Advice

Postby wokkaben on Wed Feb 02, 2011 9:34 pm

As the missus hates driving the Fronty, but has said I can keep it, but I need to get her a runabout instead. Seen a nice Volvo but needs a head overhaul due to a leaky valve seal, seen this on Ebay, can folks give me their opinions please, only as a temporary fix until I can sort out the valve seal. Im not 100% convinced about it, and fear it could gum up the oilways and cause further issues. Thanks and hugs in advance!

Dont even got there for a permanent fix, it might get you home but the head will go sooner or latter big time, you are just putting off the inevitable and could even cause more damage by prolonging the original problem.

Sorry I mis read as seeing the item was for head gaskets  you can try forte seal conditioner, it helps soft brittle seals but will not help if they are too far gone , I sorted a front crank shaft seal out with it about 4 years ago, its still not leaked.

I chucked a bottle into the rad on my golf3 ( suspect craced head) made no difference. Still leaking :(

I've used this stuff twice.Once on our Espace which had a leaky radiator and once on my 2.5 which had a more significant leak from the radiator.
I have never had any luck before (years ago 0) with Bars leak repairer, but this K seal worked really well and fixed both leaks much to my amazement.
