AdviceHi guys
New to this, interested in buying a frontera as a cheap 4x4, saw this, havent been to see the vehicle itself yet for an inspection, but wondered what experienced peoples view on it was : http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p Any help, guidance, advice is greatly appreciated
Re: AdviceThe price is not to bad considering the time of year and the mileage.
Its an import though as its badged Opel and seems to have a winter pack option, heated screen, heated seats and head light washers, all good stuff. Check the bulk head plate for code G80 this will tell you if it has Limited Slip Differential as stated. All in all it looks a tidy motor Ste

Re: Adviceand from the pictures i cant see any headlamp washers
Print the add off and take it along with you then if you find it aint got any of the things it says it as then knock the price down ![]() ![]()
Re: AdviceIt doesnt have fogs either, they're spots.

Re: AdviceI was about to post saying about the lack of headlamp washers but drift already posted on that
Mistakes Leather seats when they are standard cloth seats Fogs when they are spots Steel wheels when they are alloy wheels Headlamp wasker that don't exsist Passenger airbag which does exsist Too many mistakes if you ask me and no landline telephone number either...Hmm be cautious if i was you mate
Re: AdviceI can pass the dealers on my way home tonight and have a look for you if you want. Will only be a quick one, but will be able to eliminate the mistakes in the ad, and get a better feel for the sellers bottom price

Re: AdviceWill do mate. I have my stepdad taking a butchers as frankly im just a pen pusher! He has good working knowledge around engines etc and is definitely an asset to have, thank you though as if it wasnt for you it would have been a potential wasted journey!
Re: AdviceLook for oil where the gearbox meets the engine underneath, if there is thats the rear crank seal and its a gearbox out job to fix, but also check the rear end of the rocker cover as the 20L nearly always have a small leak there and this can drip down and look like a rear crank seal leak but the rocker cover leak is fairly normal and nothing to worry about and takes ten minutes and £5 to fix.
And check the rear axle diff pan for leaks Good luck, I like that car Ste

What do experienced owners think of thisAlready made another post regarding one im interested in, im following that up today and will hopefully know whether i have a new frontera or not tomorrow.
Was also looking through autotrader and came across this one, what do you all reckon please? http://www.autotrader.co.uk/classified/ ... ?logcode=p Thanks for advice / opinions etc
Re: Advicehiya Ben ive merged your post with this one to keep thing tidy
The 2.2 petrol engine is a weak engine they need to have been well looked after regular oil changes as the cranks/big end tend to go very quickly and replacement engines are rare and can cost a fortune ![]() ![]()
