Re: Insurance renewal....I used Sureterm when I renewed in Sept - 3000miles, agreed value, green lane cover, fully comp - £220 so I don't think thats too bad. Have to watch though, cover exists for 12 months or 3000 miles whichever is sooner, no drop down to 3rd part if I go over the mileage - COVER ENDS, also absolute no other vehicle to be driven with that policy.

Re: Insurance renewal....Just trying to establish what they want from us..A mod is a mod to a point but it seems i don't have enough of them..At least five mods it seems i require. There site is a bit short of information to be honest..It won't take much to alter a few things to get it how they want it to be..
Re: Insurance renewal....In some foreign lands when you buy a car and then the insurance that is it, as long as the driver has a licence the cover is there.
Not so in good old UK, after buying the car, the insurance will relate to that car and the specified drivers, do not assume fully comp means you can borrow anyone elses motor - check the policy! Another pitfall is the spouse/partner of the policyholder assuming they possibly have the same cover on other vehicles if permitted for the policy holder - beware, as mentioned earlier in this thread, that invariably will not be the case. More insurance companies are emphasising these elements now, it is not new, most have been this way for many years. Go careful guys. Kodiak Transglobe 2.0 SWB

Re: Insurance renewal....another 2p's worth....
dont apply on line - you'll have to go through and confirm details later anyway - always phone and discuss what you want - also helps you as long as honest because if they offer you something the calls are recorded so you will get it - but works both ways remember as i understand it re: FP insurance there are 2 types the offer as a specialist, 1 - 2nd car, modified, limited mileage, no commuting or 2 - main car, modified agreed mileage with commuting. both do not gain ncd. as a broker they can probably get non specialist insurance probably without modifications but remember some "normal" policies will cover some mods without increase in cover costs as long as you let them know.... re: employment status, its not a conspiracy against the unemployed its because insurance co's use computers, the policy is calculated on your approach to risk as dictated by your employment! my wife works in a bookies and the premiums are ridiculous because her job makes her out to be a gambler, if she states she is a deputy shop assistant it drops dramatically!!! if you haven't got a job they cant work it out hence no quote...best to tell them what you used to do/are so just cos your out of work doesn't stop you being a painter for example....
Re: Insurance renewal....Thanks Keith for that

Re: Insurance renewal....Well I rang FP today to take up the quote of £142 they gave me. Whilst I was on the phone to Barry I yhought I would ask a few questions, just to clarify a few things. So here we have it from the horses mouth so to speak.
Q1. Am I covered for normal driving, ie. on-road, aswell as off-road? A1. Yes, covered for normal use, pay and play, and green laning, as long as it is modified. Q2. Now that I am an existing customer, can I insure my unmodified fiesta with you. A2. No, it is not a modified vehicle so we are unable to insure it sorry. Q3. Am I insured to commute, as in bad weather, I will use the truck to get to work instead of the fiesta? A3. Yes, it is unsured FC SDPC with limited mileage of 5000 miles Q4. If I had said I was a house Husband or Stay at Home Dad, why would you not insure me? A4. Unfortunately, a few have spoilt it for the many, by saying that they are HH's or SHD's but were actually self employed plumbers or sparky's etc... and then used the trucks as main vehicle for work because of the low premium. So we had to make a ruling, sorry. Hope this clears a bit up for folks ![]() SIZE DOES MATTER!! Re: Insurance renewal....Its the 5000 miles a year on road limit that knackers it for me. I will shatter that in just over 2 months
