Ive just read on yahoo news,that there is new 3D cameras coming out which are going to detect speeding/insurance/tax (I think) and seatbelts. Here is the link.

New speed cameras.Hi all.

Re: New speed cameras.Any camera that detects insurance an tax is a good one cause if an unisured car is on the road then its a danger that not covered, as for speed get them next to school

Re: New speed cameras.I'm not entirely sure these are likely to be too much of an issue. Apart from the many years it will take for them to be fully tested and approved they don't really do anything new and considering the financial cuts that are threatening the 'safety' camera partnerships the price of them alone might rule them out.
There are already ANPR cameras all over the place (including the VOSA vehicles and police traffic cars) which do the tax/insurance thing and regular traffic cameras could quite easily be programmed with software that can pick up on the tailgating thing if they wanted them to so the only new thing they allegedly do is spot seatbelts using these so-called 3d cameras, which seems unlikely. Don't grow up, just get bigger toys
