Insurance renewal....Re: Insurance renewal....Just touching on insurance claims - we had somebody back into our Focus last year and the party involved admitted liability and gave her full insurance details. A mate of mine is the body shop manager in our local Ford main dealers. I duly followed his advice to put the claim directly through the offending persons insurance company and not mine so as not to register a non fault claim on my policy.
Worked well, car repaired at my choice main dealer (so my mate could oversee the repairs) and no problems with courtesy car whilst the work was being done. No problems with being asked for excess premium payments and then having to argue for refunds either. Of course, I will tell my insurance company at renewal time so as not to risk giving them a bolt hole further down the line.

Re: Insurance renewal....Ive been wondering that one myself. Adrian Flux wouldnt give me a quote either. Unemployed people are being discriminated by insurance companies which is not fair. I have to agree with what my dad said the other day, that its due to boy racers that push premium's up and my dad finds the insurance is expensive and he owns a 2009 Honda CRV and he has 75% NCD and I think its disgraceful. Sorry guys & gals for getting on my

Re: Insurance renewal....Its kind of a catch 22 situation with insurance companies..How do the government expect unemployed people to go out and find work if those unemployed people can't get insurance to travel to interviews or even work...The Government need to get a grip with these rip off merchants because there is no way an insurance premium that far exceeds a vehicles value can be justified..Young drivers do cause higher premiums by how they drive but think really thats just used as an excuse to hyke the premiums
Re: Insurance renewal....I agree with you 100% kev. The insurance company I had last year was the co-op and it was only £321 fully comp but it has shot up to £459 because I didnt renew it in August but the mot/tax ran out last August too and then with Christmas I havnt had the time or cash to do anything but Im in the process of getting my fronty ready for its mot just now.

Re: Insurance renewal....You do need to ask the question of what cheap car insurance companies actually do for there customers..What are they like at paying out in the event of an accident or damage caused by vandals because there prices seem really good and low but and a big but what are they actually going to do when the claims roll in

Re: Insurance renewal....This may sound like a daft question, but the companies that are providing off-road/greenlane cover at such low costs, are they providing cover for normal road use or are they insuring for only off-road/greenlaning, hence their stipulation for mods which, if using larger chunkier tyres are detracting from on road suitability?

Re: Insurance renewal....Some companies will not insure you on Green Lanes they say, but the word of the law tells you a legal Green Lane is a byway like any other road in the country so technically you are covered on Green Lanes though this has to be proved either way in court.
But if the insurance categorically states Green Lanes and/or Off road use you dont have to worry about fighting it in court, some companies attract business this way. Off Rod, as in pay and play is a totality different ball game, 99% of insures will not touch this subject and quite frankly its understandable, you dent your car or another you both sort it privately.
