2/4xdrive autolocksMAY I FIRST SAY HAPPY NEW YEAR TO YOU ALL. Hope some body can clear this little poser up for me.I have the fly shift model (where you just push a button on the dash for 4 wheel drive is there any do,s and don,t,s..somebody told me that i should stop and reverse a little to revert back to 2 wheel drive, cos in the recent snow the truck i must admit was the dog,s bo****cks.i just kept changing back+forth from 2 to 4+back as and when needed, although once in a while it did feel a bit stiff once i had stopped,so please guys can somebody put me right ocs the last thing i need is to damage the drive train.thank,s in advance.
Re: 2/4xdrive autolocks4X4 is stiff when you stop or manouver in a confined space when engaged.
I drove mine the same as you pal, in and out as needed. My only advice is to dip the clutch to help disengage quicker and dont engage 4X4 above 60mph, i think the limit is 64mph? This is my second fronty, my first being the swb sport 2000 reg, bought it a year old and now i have got another but its a lwb, both are great in 4X4 mode no complaints at all and the push button 4X4 is a blessing. Re: 2/4xdrive autolocksyou dont have to reverse to disengage 4wd with a b mate i think your friend is thinking about an a series, just engage & disengage as required but remember to use 4wd on slippery surfaces only
ive got to agree my fronty was awesome in the recent bad weather and i was a 4wd snow virgin as well WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?

Re: 2/4xdrive autolocksHi hope you got sorted in your 4x4 drive selection
I also was having some difficulty engaging the 4wd as when I pushed the button on dash the 4x4 signal just kept flashing & did not engage (any ideas ?) I drive the 2.2dti LWB (2001) I was having some probs with the dash lightening ie speedo or rev counter did not work until main lights turned on !! (thinks its an earthing prob not sure if this has anything to do with the 4wd engagement) thanks Pete
