Laning day review 2nd Jan 2011

All be it arranged at very short notice, and mainly off forum  mapracing, 2much and myself decide to take in some of the Essex countryside for a change.

Loads more mud and water than the meet last [linkurl=http://www.fronteraowners.co.uk/forums/viewtopic.php?f=63&t=39365]Thursday[/linkurl] which made things very interesting at times, not helped by me being on AT's.
The day started with 2much and mapracing getting stuck. In all honesty, it was a case of take this lane and risk getting stuck or another just down the road which was tarmac and gravel so we choose the one which would be more fun and challenging  This gave me the first of many uses of my new winch today
Once we winched to cars out of the water, we went on to our next lane, where the mud and water caused yet more mayhem and the quick assembly of a 20metre tow and 2 pulling cars was required. After a few more tamer lanes we went back to the hard stuff and found a river of water running down one lane . Combine this with London clay and a lane which had seen too many 35"+ tyres and 2 of the Frontys where grounded out  . 2much to the rescue (because he was the only one not stuck and at the back  ) and again both cars freed by roping them all together.
Loads more mud and a great day was had by all, with all our cars now sporting new camouflage style paint jobs.

Only a few photo's from me, but hopefully loads more to be posted up by mapracing

Re last nights diplomatic phone call Paul (mapracing) when I declined the chance to come out and play on this one because I was taking the old lady out for the day - well turns out that in all innocence at 9.30a.m. today she announces that she was not bothered about going out today, but that we can always go out on Monday - first growl - then when I'm showing her your pics from todays play - she pipes up with why didn't I go - needless to say I'm sitting here speechless :x

top way to start the new year  as we ended it - laning!!

as the chaps said very wet and muddy but whilst 3 may be a crowd its the perfect number for laning - normally keep at least 1 truck free. really cant believe the depth of some of the ruts, only option was more welly (of the right foot not both feet  )

bad boy did a grand job once again with the route - couldnt believe how far we went and thanks to mapracing for the phone call/text to make sure i dragged my ass out of sick bed to come along - top day and took in the whole variety of laning experiences.

had to break the normal habit and actually wash the outside and inside of the truck so i can drive to work in it 2moz - left the underneath for dropping in works car park :D

exhaust seems a little louder than before, eml flashed on/off for whole last hour, loads of mud in brakes which is making some "grate" noise, nut came off front arb locator, carpet wetter than ever, loads of mud in airbox  maybe just having my new snorkel in the cupboard doesnt work as well as being on the truck???

looking forward to a busy off roading new year with as many of ya as poss!
