Hi people. Ive been chatting to a guy who owns this lwb diesel frontera ( http://www.swapz.co.uk/swapz/1554433/19 ... _and_test/ ) and its in my price range etc and just wondered if any of you know the car ?
Also he says ........
1, "It does sound a little rough on tick over this is either a exaust rattle or a tensioner both very easy and cheap to fix "
Dont mind if its the exhaust but if its not what tensioner could it be ????????

2, "the car doesn't start but if you take the key out and put it back in then its fine, must be the imobalizer chip in the key or something like that"
Is this a common problem ???

I think you will find the tensioner is not a cheap fix mate....but the immobilisers can take a while to deactivate so that might not be a problem...

Its an immobiliser problem that happens now and again with the 2.5, but nothing to worry about.
The tensioner is the for the polley v belt that drives all the ancilleries such as alternator, fan etc.
They are easy to change or repair depending on the fault.
Loads in the 2,5 section on repairing.
If it all sounds good to you, go for it mate.

Make sure it has some service history, and a recent service.
When you drive it, switch the ignition on and wait for the preheat light to go out, then start it up without throttle, and clutch pedal depressed. When it starts, leave it idling for a few seconds so the turbo and fuel pump get lubricated.
You need to leave it idling a few seconds before turning it off, for the same reason.
The 2.5 is all electric, ie there are no operating cables. All operated by the ECU. This puts some people off, but dont allow it to.
You should get 2 key fobs with it, and a service/owners pack too.
There is a lot of help on here if you get the car, and need help.
