Re: Good news!Wecome to the world of frontydom..
but can I throw a word of caution... we all have - (Dwifty.. a 'Fortera' with a 'mobilizer' and 'alam', and the 'milleg will chang daly due to youing' and you 'need to no anything pls ask'.. but the "de,tachable tow bar" sounds like a bargain.. for your car... seriously - if they cant spell.. how on earth is it going to be looked after.... like a 'fewel fitter', or a 'oyel chaynje' - ask with the offer of bacon buttys and tea (beer works better!) for a second opinion....theres members close to you who will give you an honest opinion, theres no such thing as a dumb question... but losing your vectra and getting a knackered dog.. not a great idea.. look at it in daylight, on a dry day (rain hides minor dents and windscreen chips) with a "do i really need a 20-25 mpg $x$ not raining on your parade, BUT.. its a lot easier to walk away than it is to put one right, Martha was £65 (well £62.11 on ebay) as they managed to spell $X$ right (thats 4x4 on a laptop with the shift key on... which is how we met.. Me - Martha love affair - followed by abuse.. ) with 4 months tax and 9 months ticket, its worth £200 in scrap.. but for the smiles per miles - I'd never sell her.. used to be a Landrover fan.. now.. Frontys.. cheap, fixable with a set of spanners and a hammer.. and some carb cleaner.. Advice from me - walk away.. and thats just me.. If your after a LWB / 5 door.. post it in the wanted section on here.. sell Vectra privately.. better money.. John You cant polish a t*rd..
But you can roll it in glitter if its broken - fix it if it isnt - mod it!
Re: Good news!Spelling aside, personally i'd steer clear of anyone wanting to swap a car, especially when offered against "any diesel". If it's a goodun, why isn't it being sold??
Cynic, suspicious? Maybe. Is it me or does the only headlight visible look totally out of line with the indicator?
Re: Good news!Guy recently contacted me from that site to swap his van (which i was looking for) for my lexus is 200. Met to have a look first & check relevant service history, mine was FLSH. Took a few days to think it over & check out vehicle history, prices etc, then met up to do the deal. I got exactly what i was looking for, he did the same. Ive been checking to see if he put it up for sale straight away, but still has it. As mentioned above, dont undervalue your car, just because someone offered a swap for what your looking for. Take someone with you who will give you an unbiased objective opinion...... also get your car listed on as many FREE ad sites as possible you never know, if it sells, cash always talks better when trying to do a deal, ESPECIALLY @ this time of year

Re: Good news!as above i used swapz to get my frontera, and saying that you wouldnt trust it because 'why do they want to swap it'
well someone could sell it and not tell you things are wrong with it although i do agree with jammy on the spelling thing, it does sort of shout 'HAVE A GOOD LOOK AT ANY FAULTS' i swapped my 3 door astra for a fronty estate i didnt have any money and couldnt find a buyer for mine, it eliminated the potential gap between having a car and not having a car we both got what we wanted, i needed a bigger car due to two kids and the need to carry my tools. he wanted a smaller car because he couldnt fit it in his new garage its the same as buying a motor you have to be careful and there are always dodgy dealers
Re: Good news!Cheers for the advice guys, I am off for a look at it, but told the guy Im not doing a deal unless we are both happy, have actually spoken to him too and he appears to be genuine/sound enough. I've swapped cars in the past and (touch wood so far) have not had any problems bar what were agreed/discussed before the deal. Off to see it on Sunday so will keep you posted on whats happening. To be fair though, my Vectra is a piece of crap and will fail next MOT (I've told him this) and I hate it too! Also Im fairly handy with the spanners so any small issues I can handle!
If it bleeds, I can kill it.
