I work on renewables and conventional systems,

solar works well providing its designed well they usually works for around 15-20 years and would save you around 10-25% on hot water bills, IF you get it fitted by the right firm who wont charge you 300% profit it will pay back fairly quick.

solar heating is ok for new build as the house is air tight and well insulated it works of a thermo store set up then to the rads its ok providing it heats up during the day or your back on electric heater ...

low temp air source is good BUT it has to right size for the house with correct sized rads or its a waste of cash

high temp air source as good as a gas boiler will go on any existing heating system

bio mass really good but expensive works like a gas boiler and makes you 12.2p for every kw of wood you burn

solar pv no brainer
