I spend a fair amount of time on eBay looking at Frontys/Landy etc etc , and some of the prices these clowns are asking makes me wonder what they were under the influence of when they posted the ad's ? :shock:

First one I spotted. '97 Fronty sport, 118k on the clock, admittedly in good nick, but £1895 ? :shock:

There is an identical one with less mileage on Gumtree for 400 notes.

Next up a Dti.2000 reg , again it has been well valeted, 113k - £2695! I paid £1200 for my '99 Dti

And finally , another Dti, again a 2000 reg for a bargain £3693! , thats £2493 more than I paid for my '99.

I got my 98 Sport for less than a third the price of that 97 model...and only had 76k on the clock !! These guys need their heads seen to! :butt:

They are probably thinking they would like to sell it & put some bread on the table with the bit of profit made after,
Buying/renting thier place of business
Paying business rates
Paying insurance
Paying the Valet
Paying for the presale service
Paying the warrety fee
Buying the car in the first place,etc,etc

None of those are base model,all are clean (the Niagara is exceptional)however the last one could be knocked down as the wheels are from A series & unless there is paperwork to prove the date of purchase & fitting of the bull bar then it would need removing (even with paperwork you would need to inform your insurance company of its fitment,which could result in increased premium or even denial of service)

I worked in the Motor Trade, in a main dealership, for 15 years and there is one of two things (or both) happening.

The buyer is incompetent and paid too much for the vehicles or they are trying to rip people off.

Either way, those prices are ridiculous which is why they remain unsold. It would be far more sensible to advertise them at more sensible price and not incur relisting fee's.

at the end of the day there are people out there and will pay the price that they are asking. The price of the frontera is on a steady rise

i saw that niagara an said if that sells at the price im washing mine an putting it on th bay an mine has 82k on clock so must be worth bit more .....not.

Yeah there is a few high priced ones out there shame mines not on the list

I would be more inclined to have a lower profit margin and quick turn around, a car not selling on a forecourt is taking another cars place.

Ask Furball, that was a classic.

This is more an issue with smaller traders as opposed to dealers, as I bet most of the traders get their cars from the dealer or auctions as trade in cars, so they will not have paid a great deal for them in the first place.

Back in the 80's a mate and myself had a side line (well I did, he was full time) we had a deal with a ford main dealer to buy their older trade in cars for slightly more than they would sell for scrap or the auction cars they though might cost too much in fee's, these we bought for silly money and a bottle of vodka with each one (silly but it worked :wink:
