which torque wrench

Postby jmc on Mon Sep 06, 2010 8:13 am

This is something that crops up now and again and I have to go and borrow one.I should have brought one years ago when I was doing more home mechanics.
I went to look in a motor factors and they which one would you like.It seems that they stock two different sizes one 3/8 drive the other 1/2 inch, and they are made by Laser.I left thinking I needed to find out a bit more before buying.
Does anyone have a tried and tested one they could recommend?
Thanks.

You need a 1/2 in drive one mate.
Loads of different makes, but i would suggest going to Machine Mart. They are brilliant suppliers and good with their prices too.
If you dont have one near by, go to their website, here's the page.
http://www.machinemart.co.uk/shop/searc ... any/page/1
You can also try Screwfix too.

All 1/2 in ones are really pretty strong. Ive had a ratchet one since i was 17 years old and i'm now 51. Never let me down yet.
Hope this helps mate.
Regards, Keith.

Thank you very much rifleman for the advice and links I will have a look later as I'm off out tonight for a meeting. I'm 47 and should have bought one at 17 but I remember them being quite a price then and my boss had one which I borrowed from time to time.
Hope you are well Ive been away from this site for a bit.
I have fitted a fold down discovery seat in the back of the 2.5 and I will try to get a photo for all to see.I made a bracket up from 3mm plate and bolted this through the wheel arch and the disco seat bolts onto that. Its been useful as I can take the whole family out in it now,but can fit only a child in it as the head room is limited.
