Re: Workday at the Woods 1st August *BACK TO PLAN "A"!!*Well a blinding weekend....
Spent Saturday afternoon and evening with pete taking the landowners wedding guests for pleasure 4x4 rides round the woods and generally scaring them! Sally coordinated the queueing at the top, and kept the revellers patient, before getting pi55ed while we were still working!!! Never have so many been so scared by so few....eh pete!!! we started at 2.30pm and didnt stop, taking 3 passengers at a time...they all loved it, and couldnt believe what Fronteras could actually do...Pete left about 7.30ish...but there was still more people wanting a go, so I carried on till 9.30ish when it was pitch dark in the woods, making it much more challenging! Finally gave up after 7hours of none stop lock to lock offroading, having burnt nearly a tank of petrol, won a couple more dents and killed the front diff!!!! Then went for a beer at the reception and was reunited with my inebriated Sally, who had been on monster JD and cokes, and we stayed until midnight! Everyone kept coming over and saying how much they had enjoyed their 4x4 "experience" the newly weds where really pleased with our efforts... Big thanks to Pete and Sally for all your hard work, it was nice to be able to give something back seeing as John has been so accommodating with what we are doing in the woods... Then home to grab some sleep, and then back to the woods for the workday... Sally was nursing a hangover...I was fine as was driving, which made her hangover worse I think...picked up Dave on the way as his 2,5 is kinda dead... We were running late so Phil and Jim beat us there....but John invited them and then us when we arrived, to join them for a BBQ breakfast which was pukka even with Louis' cooking! Then off to the woods fat and full and struggling to find motorvation... Phil had bought his trailer, and the li'll white leafer had our usual little trailer so we go stuck into moving all the tree debris from the whole clearing area and adjacent woods...logged a load up with dave, cheers fella, its a cr4p job and an extra pair of hands is really handy! Got to say guys...the whole clearing area is now fantastic....we have created loads of more camping space... Then onto clearing the dead wood from the lower track, including the remains of the stump garden which we dug out with the digger at the digger weekend to improve the lower site access... Looks loads better and we now have a little pile of twigs for the next weekender bonfire!! Blinding effort guys...thanks for your support...the place is looking pukka!! Some pickies of the days efforts!! RIP stumpgarden....with its Victors atop!!! Now part of our small pile of twigs for the weekender bonfire!(from L to R Jim, Phil and Dave) The clearing...your campsite as it now looks... A proud Phil (houndog) with his newly lifted 2.8lwb) Sally driving the li'll white leafer....look at all those dents she's put in it!!! The twig pile again The gang....looks like blurry head man is trying to be supportive to our female co-worker!! Li'll white leafer dwarfed by our picnic bench! Our 2.8lwb lurking in the clearing with toooosmalll wheels n tyre... Thanks again everyone and see you soon!!! Re: Workday at the Woods 1st August and REVIEW with pickies!!!!
Deffo later mate....that car has done more mud miles than tarmac since I have had it....and it must have done hundreds of miles round the woods in all...and I wouldnt even hazzard a guess of how many recovery's it has done.... Gotta say it has done fantastically...if my workshop was the size of the topgear studio, I would display it like they do the hilux!!! Looking forwards to the picnic and weekender too matey...and we are gonna do a couple of days with that 3 tonner again before then! so there will loads of new stuff to play on!!! The last weekender raised the money to hire and deliver the digger, hopefully with a good picnic and a some donations into the digger collection at the picnic we will have the diesel to go crazy... Re: Workday at the Woods 1st August and REVIEW with pickies!!!!Looking good fellas - well done to all of you
Re wedding day excursions - I reckon I had as much fun as the guests. Groups varied from older gents who showed a lot of interested in the technicalities, younger fellas who were having a good wind up and banter amongst themselves and ladies with the passing comment of 'Oh my God, your not going down there' and that was only doing the horse-shoe Then the youngster making the request of can we go down the 'cool' hill again whilst what seemed to be her auntie covering her eyes up and hanging on for dear life. The 'cool' hill being Krusher's revenge. The run that had me having a silent giggle was when I was taking ta group of younger fellas round who were quite vocal having a good hearted wind up amongst themselves suddenly going stony silent as the gas went down ripping up the slope with the 2 large tree stumps Then you get the real feel good factor by being told 'cor your ever so skillful driving round here with one hand'. Needed to saver the moment so didn't point out we're only doing 10-15 mph and that I could only have one hand on the steering wheel handle.
