Re: Weekender 2/3/4th July 2010 REVIEW>>>another great time at the woods!
been a bit of a trying time for me lately but this was just what i needed as usual more laffs than i never thought possible over a weekend thanks, in no particular order to; - greg and sal for making this happen and gregs new industrial garden furniture venture - paul (mapracing) for good laffs and being the best wing man ever - kel and pete for taking the wife and kids for a spin - at least pete got stuck so i still claim i am the best driver ever - louis and djsarge for the bbq, gonna have have to up my game if i want to keep my claim to the the tongs!! - ian for bringing the rear window down for me, a real gent, a scholar and drinker (if todays morning "look" was anything to go by) - all those that put in such an effort on the workdays leading up to this event - everyone that attended over the 2 days , good to see you all (new & old) - especially jim and houndog & co, you all made my weekend.... cant wait to catch up with everyone again real soon, sorry no pics (no camera as usual, never been trusted with anything worth more than 50p) but look forward to seeing all yours. the fog frog went well on saturday, especially with the rear arb disconnected, sunday however a different matter had a play with the shafts (oooh errr!) since i got home and i would say deffo the front diff - found i could turn the front prop (hubs unlocked) without the drive shafts turning, then continued for a bit and this locked up, could turn one drive shaft a few turns before this locked up - only be freed by wiggling the pair of them. i can now claim not only to have got stuck in the woods on perfectly flat ground i can now also confirm that i have broken a front diff on perfectly flat ground ps. kerry said she enjoyed meeting ya'll today and looks forward to the next event - hopefully we'll get another picnic in before next weekender and the start of me lads footy season have a good week one and all

Re: Weekender 2/3/4th July 2010 REVIEW>>>Firstly just want to say a big thanks to Gregster and Sally for arranging a blinding weekender!!!!
And to everyone who helped out in preparations and running of the whole thing!!! Absolute perfection!!! Am already counting down to the next one!!! This may have only been my second trip to the woods, but the welcome is amazing!! Felt like had known everyone for years, even those of you who I meet for the first time this weekend!! Also must say thanks to Ian (Bobbinsjob) for the extraction from the top bomb hole on saturday! (And to Krusher for stopping him pulling just before my truck reached an over interesting angle!! Am sure the video will appear later). Had a lot more confidence to try some of the bigger holes/obstacles this time and was pleasantly surprised at the result. One mud tyre seems to be the way forward I believe! Can also now boast a few more "organic modifications" on the old diamond, but nothing to major. Also did have a bit of a squeaky bum moment when using the chrome side steps as rock sliders though!! I do feel the purchase of a shorty for a toy coming on though. May be I will keep it straight and not scratch it? Proberly in a similar way to the Daihatsu? What you reckon Louis? Only time will tell! Unfortunately I only have a few photos this time, but they will appear when can get my prehistoric camera to co-operate! Gregster, hope you got the Glitterball home OK mate? Let me know when the next work day is and I will do my best to attend! IF YOU CAN READ THIS, I NEED MUD!!!!
I DON'T GET STUCK, I JUST HAVE TEMPORARY LOSSES OF MOTION!!!!
Re: Weekender 2/3/4th July 2010 REVIEW>>>Hiya foggers...

Re: Weekender 2/3/4th July 2010 REVIEW>>>WHAT A BRILLIANT WEEKEND!!!!!!!!!
Thank you so much to Greg and Sal for an absolutely outstanding job organising such a great weekend, no BS, one of the best ever. Also thanks to everyone who has attended workdays to make the woods probably one of the most technical, interesting, fun, yet good for beginners sites around. Big thanks to the chefs, Bushwacker and junior, DJSarge and 2much........Heroes Really big thanks to Jim (Willberforce) for letting me loose in Lara after I goosed the clutch on Angelina trying to extract Hounddog from a tree and to Mapracing for the tips on how to get up the white hill after I got Lara a bit sideways It was great to see Robbie and (sorry cant remember the missus name ) travelling from geordieland to Kent for the weekender Like I say, it was a fantastic weekend starting with me arriving at 1130pm and putting my tent up in the dark but got the truck light on and diverted all the bugs from the drinkers to me. after a few beers it was time to retire to my ever deflating airbed. Saturday morning, woke up to see the clearing in all its splendor, it looks amazing, FOG's very own CentreParcs. After a few more people had arrived we went up to the woods for a play and my god is there loads to do? Such a transformation from February There were laughs galore, what with Kel trying to knock down trees, Ross nearly being rolled over by me (and can you believe what a t1t I am as I accidentally deleted that video...gutted ) Then there was Greg trying to start his own forest fire with one of the best burnouts you will see, just wish I had the video running then and not photos. Phil's sideway attempts to take a tree out and much much more fun and games in the woods. Saturday night was brilliant, the social area with the fairy lights, monster music deck and speakers, the beer flowing freely, apart from those who went for a bit more night driving in the woods. especially Louis and Lloyd who never seemed to stop driving. Lloyd did 40ltrs of fuel Greg said that the FOG BOG needed emptying so I volunteered to help. As I'd had a drink but still wanted to go up to the woods but wouldnt drive, it was an ideal opportunity to ride shotgun, or so i thought. We loaded the 2 porta pottis into the LWB and I got into the back just to steady them as we went up the farm track.....then greg decided to take a short cut straight up the hill climb with me bouncing around in the back holding on to the bogs for dear life, plreying that I wouldnt come back down looking like the creature from the brown lagoon. After that it was time for me to resume business as normal and hit the beer, luckily Greg spotted that I had mistakenly picked up alcohol free beer from tesco and shared his stellas with me, what a knob I am We sat round the bonfire till about 3.30am toasting marshmallows and bread, and as you can guess, Greg is the only mad mechanic who can over engineer toasting mallows with a long branch, shapended to 1 micron, fitted into a 18V cordless Makita rotiserie There was plenty of carnage but dont let that make you think that everywhere is damaging as there was plenty to do, as my truck is proof, no damage apart from a burnt out clutch, actually a clutch in flames, from trying to recover Phil uphill in reverse doh!!! Sunday morning was a bit baggy to say the least and I was feeling a little delicate so didnt go up to the woods till after lunch when Jim kindly let me ride shotgun then amazingly got me to drop him back off at the camp and handed the keys to Lara to me, what a star....trees look so much bigger and hills scarier when you are driving someone elses truck. There was so much more that went on but I am so knackered that I can remember it all. Once again, thank to everyone who made it a great weekend and see you all again soon. Here are the pics and the vids are uploading but may take some time This makes me giggle everytime I watch it. Note how well timed our warnings were Warning!!!!! maybe a naughty word or 2 in this one The others are taking ages to upload to photobucket so I will post them tomorrow as I am cream crackered and off to me pit SIZE DOES MATTER!! Re: Weekender 2/3/4th July 2010 REVIEW>>>What a blinding weekend................. my first outing with the FOG crew and i have to say what a great bunch you all are.
We arrived Friday evening and attempted to put the tent up under instruction from Bushwacker where it all went terribly wrong...... it was dark and the tent was only half erect, untill Crusher come to the rescue, so a big thanks to Crusher for his assistance there and the use of his lights!!! Once the tent was errect and some food on the go the fun started to begin............. many a laugh and joke around the picnic table (Industrial Picnic Table at that) Sat morning we were up bright and early and the fun in the woods begun...... Hopefully next time i see you all i will have my own vehicle......

Re: Weekender 2/3/4th July 2010 REVIEW>>>Wow
Can't say any more than that. Who would have thought less than a year ago none of us had meet each other, and now we had a weekend meet which had how many members at it??????????? (Greg'll have done the math ). I can still remember doing the reccy with Greg back in late July last year for what was the South East's first proper meet, and seeing the off road site for the first time, not being able to drive more than 50 yards along what is now the bottom track let alone up any of the hills. A few meets and work days later and we had what has to have been one of the best weekends I've had in years. My car ran all day with no problems (almost - must remember not to put all new brakes on the day before a meet . Makes staying stopped on hills much easier) The biggest Thank You ever goes to Greg & Sally for all the work in organising it. All the extra hours and days off work you guys have committed to to make it happen, and to everyone who attended and made the weekend what it was. No pics or vids from me this time - I left the camera at home Can't wait for the next one Traffic lights in London are just rough guidelines

Help ya self bud!!
Re: Weekender 2/3/4th July 2010 REVIEW>>>Well finally made it back on the circuit - finished mending Bertie Saturday morning, then out for a road test run to reassure myself that the brakes were working OK and no nasty noises from wheel bearings, then happy days, down to the woods for a play. Stopped at Tesco's enroute to get the vidals and finally arrived round about mid-day. Didn't count the number of Fronty's but they were all stacked down one side of the clearing and more out in the woods so it must be a record for attendance numbers.
As it was valuable play time that would be wasted, I decided to run with the standard road tyres rather than change to the muddies. Apart from one puncture all went well. Was able to get wheel spin in the dust Unfortunately, Saturday night clashed with one of the wife's work mates wedding reception, so that put paid to me staying late for the camp fire shin dines. Not all bad though, had free flowing Harveys bitter all night at the wedding bash. Hence me not being back down on Sunday morning at the crack of sparrows. I have to say though, on the Sunday arrival it was quite noticable that there was quite a few tired peeps around. Reckon you must have had a long one Saturday night. But hyho, that's what it's all about. Only got the little vid camera out once so here's my contribution: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPCmsJBrczs Louis doing his stuff with 2 wheel drive - but it's not all bad, his motor still resembles the Fourtrak that he started off with - well nearly. Big thanks to Greg and Sal for their gigantic efforts in putting this party one. Well done guys. Now that we've come full circle and we know with have a play ground with different characteristics for each season, I think we can all give ourselves a big thumbs for what as been created. Biggest thanks goes to Greg though for sourcing the site and being the driving force in it's creation. That said, lets not forget Sal for being there every inch of the way - not only rolling her sleeves up with the rest of us, but also her behind the scenes admin efforts. Thanks mate. I for one, now that we're a year down the line, would like to think that I've meet some real nice people and have a good few more mates from doing the S.E. picnics - so roll on another year
