I had my very first race event on saturday where I was actually the driver rather than a spectator or mechanic. This was a sprint event at Curborough near Lichfield.
Picked the race car and trailer up from N Lincs on friday night and drove down. Truck performed fantastically and at a steady 50 mph returned pretty much the same mpg towing as it does when unladen which I was well chuffed with (did Hull to Lichfield and back on half a tank!!).
As I was staying overnight on my own (wife and son were at my sisters in Loughborough) I had put a mattress from my sons old cot bad in the back and kipped on that. Was quite comfortable and much nicer than a tent lol. Even better was I wasn't worried about getting wet when it absolutely p*****d it down in the night. Anyway woke up to bright sunshine at 7:30 on saturday and this stayed with us through the day.
Had a fantastic day and really enjoyed myself. Unfortunately magneto trouble put paid to my last 2 runs but I was chuffed with my other times and had a fantastic day.
The fronty did great and had more than enough room for all the race stuff (tools, spare engine etc) as well as the bed so even more pleased.
Heres a few pics from the day.
This meant I didn't get to join you lot at Bala but hopefully next time as it looks like you had great fun!!
Cheers
Alan
