Re: RAC? - World's worst company?Phone the complaints department and tell them that you are going to write a letter to the all the local newspapers explaining everything that happened including the use of bad language by the call centre.
If you don't get free cover for a year then write the letter. If you need something done quickly just ask a busy woman then get the f"k out of her way.
Re: RAC? - World's worst company? My Dad joined the AA in 1960 and then later on he put me on the same policy, and between us in over 40 years we had called them out 18 times, we got a letter telling us that we were using their service too much and if we called them out again we would have to pay
My Dad was not happy, We are now with the RAC Just hope they don't cheese him off
Re: RAC? - World's worst company?Paul sorry its a bit late but just noticed this tread!
PLEASE tell me you didnt take it to mr clutch in luton in the end??? If so have it checked else where as my old fronty got taken there not only did they try ripping me off with bits i didnt need but also turned out they left most of the bolts out everywhere ( only put one back to bolt gear stick down for a start) they also did a crap job and i had to get another garage to re do it 2 weeks later phil Cheers Phil

Re: RAC? - World's worst company?Paul, the RAC or any other for that matter is a RECOVERY service, not a vehicle transport service.
Sorry but they are correct to refuse to attend you once you vehicle is at your home, unless you have home start even if it did break down a mile away. you'll probably find in the policy something like " they'll only attend if more than ½ mile from you home" . Even if you have home start, they're still not a vehicle transprt company, there you take your vehicle from your home to some garage where-ever. As for the RAC-v-AA debate, I know who's the better of the two, I deal with all of them on a daily basis. For info I was with the RAC for over 27 years, but left them because they couldn't give me the cover that I wanted for a reasonable price. There is however no excuse for the RAC operator swearing at you, even so, from the tone of your post I'll bet you did a bit of swearing yourself. If this was the case, the operator should have told you that the call would be terminated if you continued. I'm not saying that you did swear, but in my experience you normally get like for like.

Re: RAC? - World's worst company?4WD will most likely be wiring on the gearbox not connected, there is no need to bleed the clutch fluid when fitting a clutch kit
