What is this???

Recent purchase, a LWB B series Frontera, whilst looking up to measure for a sump/steering guard, we find this cylinder thing right in the firing line for hitting rocks etc, but have no idea what it is for. can anyone enlighten us?
Do we really need it? can we get rid of it? or do we need to keep it and if so, can we re-locate it?

Is it the vac reservoir for the 4wd system? I thought the front bash plate was metal on the B series?

Not sure about relocating it, try the ads section a few B series are being broken.

Just saw a bit on the "She lives again" post and it might be what he just replaced.
Edit: "She lives at last" on the Home bit.

There is something about it here as well. 4WD reservoar yepp.
Should be possible to relocate whererever you want it as long as the lines don't get too long as this will add to the resistanse and slow down the 4WD actuator.
