MOT advice please...I have got the deaded MOT creeping up on me this weekend and I have a couple of questions I need help to answer....
1. I have a small stonechip in the windscreen on the passenger side, its about 3-4mm in diameter 2. The 4x4 light is permanently on whether in 2WD or 4WD and I cannot switch it off So will either of these things get me a big fat failure sheet??? Ramsgate, Kent

Re: MOT advice please...I would say no but if the tester is unsure if it's the warning or it's in 4x4 then no brake roller test but should still do but with a meter round the car park
Re: MOT advice please...the stonechip wont unless its in the field of vision to the driver , cant the light be disconnected ?
WHY AINT I GOT AN ALL SINGING & ALL DANCING SIGNATURE LIKE BOXY & DRIFTY ?

Re: MOT advice please...hi if the chip is on the drivers side it has to be smaller than 10mm by law on the passenger side it is bigger 22mm aslong as it is only a chip as for the 4x4 they should normally do a driving brake test as using a rolling road can damage gearboxes atleast the garage i was training for my mot license at did for mot

Re: MOT advice please...Your insurance will get the chip fixed free if fully comp and they come to you, only takes ten minutes

Re: MOT advice please...This is the bit i was thinking of:-
"Vehicles not to be tested on a roller brake tester Certain vehicles should not be tested on a roller brake tester, eg vehicles with More than one driving axle permanently engaged" I could see some testers saying can't put that in rollers to test the brakes but then if you read down the page:- "These vehicles should be tested using a properly calibrated and maintained decelerometer " http://www.motinfo.gov.uk/htdocs/m3s03000701.htm
Re: MOT advice please...Good luck krusher!

Re: MOT advice please...fronties can be roller brake test ed if in 2wd, but if i were testing one and the 4wd lights were staying on then i'd air on the side of caution and do a deacelarometer test( meter on the dash and slam on at about 25mph)
stone chips are 10mm in zone A which is roughtly level with the steering wheel and 40mm outside of zone a but still in swept area of wipers , if damage is outside of swept area of wipers then can be a big as it wants 2.3 td lwb know died and resurrected on an Asda shelf near you
