i thought about the 3.2 initially, but after reading some reviews and the fact it's such a big lump and i'm hoping to take it on some camping trips this year i dont fancy it's fuel bill.
the next was the 2.2 dti didn't really fancy two diesels in the family due to a potentially expensive bosch vp44 fuel pump bill
then onto the 2.2 petrol once again the reviews from car sites again dont recomend this engine as it's noisy?? but i'm also aware of a cam chain issue on the vectra 2.2's and i'm thinking the same with this one.
i prefer the later shape so i think that is all my engine choices.
so thinking back to the dti, i'm familier with the engine, i can stock up on parts in the garage knowing that both engines will benefit, if the pump fails on one i can then get on an intimate level with the y22dtr and will have another engine sat next to me should i get stuck. i have no complaints about my engine in the vec just the worry over the pump. the vecs engine is mapped to 160 bhp but i wouldn't consider this with the frontera as its more of a go anywhere toy rather than my vectra's get somewhere quick and cheap mile muncher.
so
that leaves SWB or LWB, i like space LWB it is then

spec level, yet to do the research on this so i have no idea what spec levels there are or whats included.
so that leaves me to the rest of the running gear, my old cav gsi 4x4 had a very tempermental transfer box, i'm assuming the fronteras wont be so touchy, when out viewing one is there anything i should be paying attention to in particular? diff, gearbox anything else?
as said in my hello post i'm geared up for EML airbags abs problems so TBH things like these wont bother me as it'll be a good bartering tool when haggling

budget hmm was thinking 1500 but i'm in no rush so i'm waiting poised and ready to pounce a bargain when one crops up will proberly go to 2000 for the right one. i know this is a low price regarding the DTI and the years i will be looking at, so will be limiting my choice and probably take a little longer, am in no rush.
it's her car at the end of the day and she's happy as long as it looks tidy and not a rust bucket, me, i'd like to try my hand at what 4x4's are good for.
