GPS Problem: Coincidence, or is it just me.

Hi,

I have recently, in the last week or so noticed a problem with my tom tom GPS system. The GPS receiver is a separate blue tooth unit that I connect to with my ipaq PDA. Recently it has been having problems aquiring a "fix". It will take 20 mins plus to find out where it is. example

went from Basingstoke to Chichester and it didnt get a fix at all.

Went to Reading yesterday and had to stop for 5 mins at MADSTAD before it got a fix but then kept loosing it as I I drove thru Reading.

Now the wife also has an Ipaq, but later variant with built in GPS and hers is also suffering the same problems.
Is this coincedence or has there been a recent change in GPS as both of these unit are over 5 yeas old.

I noticed my Navman took ages to find my location at the weekend too so maybe it is a satelite problem

The weather can play a part in it... really thick cloud cover and atmospheric pressure can result in loss of signal or significant degradation.

i have a tom tom one version 3 and when it starts to take a long time to boot up i connect it to the tom tom home program,it downloads the gps quickfix facility and you can usually get a satelite fix in a few seconds.
