Lower ball joint removalHi i decided today was the day to change my lower balljoints for the mot. What a nightmare of a job.I romoved the steering link the top balljoint and still cant get the new lower balljoint in.I got the grinder out and cut the shank off the other one.Does anyone know how to slide the driveshaft back about 3cm?Got no truck till i do this.Cheers Adrian
Re: Lower ball joint removalOne of the mechanical chappies will be along shortly with a link to the right place. You need to split the hub to get the bottom ball joint out. It's fairly easy to take off the hub cover, remove the spring/circlip off the shaft and the hub will slide forward giving you enough space to get the old one out.Carefull not to lose the shims from behind the clip if there are any. Good luck and keep us posted.

Re: Lower ball joint removalYou will need to remove the circlip on both autos and mannual hubs to remove the disc, the space of the shaft sliding back will just about give you enough room with a bit of waggling to get the ball joint in and nuts in, takes a bit of messing and using another jack helps but it is doable.
