MOT Passed but....

Postby country_Est on Fri Oct 23, 2009 12:19 am

Actually failed on headlight alignment (too lw) ((prob due new rear springs and lift)) cost £6 / per side to fix done there and then.

then got 11 Advisories

11 Advisories were

1) Both Front wheel bearings slight play
2) Front brake pads wearing thin (Not too much of a prob to replace)
3) both outer CV gaiters deteriorated
4) Exhaust has part of system slightly deteriorated
5) Both rear brake disks slightly pitted
6) Slight play in steering column
7) Slight play in both rear saddle rubbers (what ? where ?)
8) Muddy condition to underside of vehicle (what ?)
9) Cut on N/S/F Tyre (get some new mudders to play with and save the AT's for the road)
10) Long travel on footbrake Pedal (New Pads and change Brake fluid should do this) Is there a howto ?
11) Stone chips to Windscreen. (been there a while & not in the problem areas)

this year i got an advisorie on my fronty telling me i had large wheels & tyres fitted  NO HAVE I REALLY ?

Muddy underneath.
You are lucky he actually put it through its test bud.
Testers are within their rights to refuse to touch a filthy vehicle.
Brake pedal travel wont be sorted by replacing the pads, as the wear is taken up by the fluid, unlike brake shoes which need adjusting. Once you replace the pads, give the full system a good bleed and replace all the fluid as it could be contaminated. If it is still the same, you can take it up at the pedal, although that is a last resort.
Make sure the bulkhead isnt flexing on braking.
Regards, Keith.
