Miracle Product and a few questionsHi Guys my first post and i thought i`d let you know about a great product on the market.
I recently purchased a 99 2.2 petrol rs sport frontera and after driving her home with no problems it developed an overheating problem on my next trip out. Cause was the rad it was peeing out water almost as fast as i put it in AND there was gungy white crap evident in the rad and rubber pipe to the overflow bottle (was told that it had undergone a hg replacement) so i was hoping that this was just remnants of the last hg failure still in the system. Anyways with the help of my neighbour we took out the radiator and i took it down to Eastend radiators in Glasgow and the guys cleaned it out and found that it was due to the bottom crimping coming loose they proceeded to recrimp it free of charge as they could not guarentee how long it would last. So my next phase was refitting ,refilling ,and adding new antifreeze and i also decided on maybe putting in some radweld just incase. So on my visit to the motor factors there it was k-seal ,i had used this previously on an old car i had a few years back but tbh i`d completely forgot about the stuff . So i added a bottle of that to the cooling system too. So 1 month later everything with the cooling system is hunky dory i know tht most cynics will say it was the rad repair that has fixed it but i`m sure that this k-seal had played a part too ,i also have the added security knowing that as long as it is in the cooling system if any problems arise it will seal them. It has been known to repair hg failures too. http://www.kalimex.co.uk/section.html?secpath=01.04.&pgid=37 Anyways thats my nugget of gold right there now for the other wee problems: 1) Accelleration is quite juddery at times more so at lower speeds 2) Ticking kinda noise almost like tappets when idling and whilst driving 3) Idle from cold revs highish and seem to stay up whilst changing gears also comes close to stalling when stopping 4) Pretty smokey upon start up and whilst accelerating hardish White smoke upon start up and sooty smoke whilst accelerating 5) Could any1 please let me know where the EGR i believe it is called is on my particualar model( a picture would be great FYI I have found that one of my HT leads cores have snapped off whilst i was checking them although i am sure that i have pushed it in well enough for sufficient contact till i get new ones. How many of the above problems could this be accountable for??
Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsWelcome to Fog bud. I had a similar problem with mine and so has Drift. The Repair you have done is usually permanent if done properly.
Cant comment on the brand you mentioned but somebody else may. Ramsgate, Kent

Re: Miracle Product and a few questions1: Engine mounts/rear gearbox mount may be worn, Propshaft centre bearing if fitted may be worn, universal joints in the propshaft may be worn, clutch mating surfaces may be contaminated with oil or not aligned correctly. wheel balancing may be off.
2: The 2.2 does have a curious ticking sound to it, usually very noticeable when first starting from cold for the first 10/15 secs. Try adding some hydraulic valve lifter (tappet cleaner) treatment to the oil and keep it in there until the next oil change or better yet add some at your next oil change. 3: This will more then likely be the idle control valve sticking. It is located on the side of the throttle body and looks something like this: 4: White smoke when cold is fairly normal for a petrol, it should have a clean sort of smell and is mostly water vapour. Black sooty smoke on acceleration sounds like unburnt fuel, When was the air filter last changed as a fuel imbalance can cause it, either the engine is overfuelling or not receiving enough air. (blueish/grey smoke is usually oil burning. The smell of the exhaust gas can be an indicator of oil burning. If it is oil then it could be rings or valve stem seals). 5: EGR Valve is located at the rear of the engine by the bulkhead and looks something like this: ![]() Hope that helps.
Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsI re-crimped my radiator myself, worked mighty fine since
Used a rad weld type product in a rover once, held off the head gasket going for a long while. Ste

Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsHi Paul, if one of the HT leads is snapped then that will probably be the cause of the hesitation and near stalling.

Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsRighto Hi Peeps a wee update i have changed the oil, plugs and HT leads and she is running lovely very smooth and quieter than b4 although she is still near stalling when stopping and also when starting somethimes she revs quite a bit and takes upto a minute to settle down.
Now i tried to do clean the EGR valve but i am having trouble locating it ,I think i know where it is and if it is where i think how the hell do you get into it to get it off OMG talk about no space Sorry for being such a dobber but there must be a method to this. Paul p.s anyone in the Glasgow area who has done this b4 or has a fault reader feel free to assist lol pps no seriously do
Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsright found the EGR and got out and sprayed with carb cleaner the plunger was sticking but the clean up has allowed the plunger to move freely without any restriction ,however the erratic idle and power loss is still occuring although it has improved.
So my next task is the idle contol valve to be cleaned could one of you kind guys please point out in the attached pictures where i will locate it... Cheers Paul
Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsCheers Sir Doris would i be correct in the following....
Thanks Paul
Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsAnother update got off the ICV and it was well carbonned upso cleaned it all out.
So far i have changed oil and filter, renewed ht leads and spark plugs ,cleaned throttle butterfly thingy, cleaned EGR and ICV she is running really smoothly now and upon stopping she is still fluctuating a bit although not as severely. Also upon start up she is pretty smokey and leaves an almost sooty mess on the ground beneath the exhaust. Is there any other components that will benefit from a good clean. Paul ps i am gonna change the fuel filter next
Re: Miracle Product and a few questionsI changed the ICV on my mates Citroen recently and it stopped the over revving and hunting when idling, we cleaned it first and that made no difference.
