Re: Certificate of ConformityI need to get a COC to import a LHD Frontera B, I have been phoning and emailling GM Luton for 5 weeks now, finally got through yesterday on the phone, it's gone up to £85 now. The guy said that he was sending me an email with the address and an application form. It didn't come through. 5 more phone calls today but still couldn't get through and his voice mail box is full, so you can't leave a message. Unbelievable to be charging this much and providing so poor a service, for a piece of paper which should be issued with the registration papes when you buy a car.
Re: Certificate of Conformitythe COC is issued at time of registration
it was on my 99 & 2002 vx motors
Re: Certificate of ConformityPhoned 4 more times today and sent another e-mail - still no contact- unbelievable
Re: Certificate of ConformityThe problem is that the import/export dept is in the hands of one man,and he seems to be a bit of a jobs worth.
You stand more chance of getting a reply via email (eventually) than by phone as you rightly say his phone is always on voicemail. Good luck, John
Re: Certificate of ConformityFinally got through, using the switchboard number ( calling early in the morning, as the phone is not answered in the afternoon). I had even asked Opel Ireland to send an e-mail on my behalf, but no joy for them either. I had ticked the delivery and read request notification, on the many emails I had sent and none came back as read.
There was undoubtedly a copy issued when the car was new, however I am the third owner and the original COC is long lost, I just feel that the certificate should be available from your local main dealer, or should be part of the vehicles log book.
Re: Certificate of ConformityThe guy in GM told me that I would need to apply to the DVLA as it's a left hand drive. I needed a vat receipt from a garage to state that the mileometer had been changed to MPH and that the headlights had been permanently changed to RHD. I sent this off along with another £85 to the guy in GM who attached the COC and forwarded the lot to the DVLA. The certificate eventually arrived today
You wouldn't want to give up easily, or you'd never get it sorted. Ah well all's well that ends well and all that
