banter general discussions etc

is it worth buying?

Postby colley on Wed Aug 19, 2009 8:38 am

Been thinking about buying one of these
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=280356644254&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT
Does anyone know if these are any good and if they do make any difference performance wise :?:

That seems alot of money for something I doubt very much you would notice was on there. I always thought my 2.0l had instant response, I don't recall any flat spots and anything much over 70mph with 31" remoulds was enough so extra performance wasn't needed either. I would use the money for some other mod if it were me. Just my thoughts though

I would very much doubt it. The psychological effect these things have is to believe your car will be quicker, hence you put your foot down more, and begin to believe it is indeed quicker. Even if the thing works, the difference, especially in a fronty, will be negligible. The money would be better spent looking after what is already under the bonnet.
Its a big 4x4, nothing is gonna make it into a ferrari.
You could always drive like miss daisy for a week, and then put the money in the tank and take it for a good thrashing to make you feel equally impressed with its new performance

I fitted one of these things to my Saff Cossie, but that had bigger injectors and needed higher rail pressure... 8)

I knew of a few people who fitted them to astra gte's but I dont think they made a lot of difference... :oh yer:

I reckon the money is best spent on something else like new plugs, leads, fuel filter...reckon that would give more of a gain...

Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again...
She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body...
Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer!

Thanks for that guys
May try a de cat instead as my truck does not like hills with mud tyres on :(
Any ideas of getting a bit power out of it :?: If it was not my main transport i would like to have it as a pick up like biil and ben. With the hard top removed the weight seems to make a massive difference as they shift very well :)
