How good are these fronteras?Hi all, after reading various threads and posts, it seems to me that there is alot of "fronty v landy" stuff going on. We seem to have the edge (biassed opinion!) but I just wondered how good they really are - so - just out of interest - who's got the highest recorded mileage? My starter for 10 - 114,567 and still going(just). Anyone out there been to the moon and back? Round the world trips or just school run mileage? Let me know. Cheers, jon.
Re: How good are these fronteras?Hiya
Think Mr Weave may hold the mileage record
Re: How good are these fronteras?I think that both landy & frontera have their respected good and bad points. guess our opinion is just "slightly biased" as we own one (or 3). The landy forums are the same in that repect.
best points of the frontera would be it's underbody protection, and the cheapness and ease to do a body lift. best points for landy, parts and resale value now these are points that I have selectively "borrowed" from FOG and green oval forums. and therefore may not be a true reflection of both automobiles My dad owns a series 1 landy that's done way over 250,000 miles, in that time it's had the half-shafts replaced a few times, the gearbox / diffs reconditioned or replaced once but apart from that never let him down. having only owned a frontera I couldn't make an honest opinion about them both, but she does me well and she's fairly easy to work on...just really the availabilty of parts at times. The greatest lesson in life is to know that even us idiots are right sometimes

Re: How good are these fronteras? My Fronties current mileage is approx 403000. Being the B series it does have the dodgy dials, so I only get to see mileage or what speed im doing when it feels like it!!!! The only thing the truck has had replaced, which isnt a consumable is the injector pump about 2 years ago. Other than that nothing excluding tyres, Brakes, clutch, filters, exhaust!!!!!! But my car does get a full service every 6 weeks, and I only use original parts where possibe!!!!!!!

Re: How good are these fronteras?I believe the cost factor is significant.
I was having a bit of a discussion with an off-roading instructor who is a Disco fan - When I told him I bought an N reg 2.8, got new steel wheels and new set of remould MT tyres, 30mm wheel spaces, suspension lift gear and body lift gear and can still get change out of a £1,000. You should have seen his face drop.
Re: How good are these fronteras? My Fronty thinks its a grown-up Tonka Toy [how sad is that] ?
