Why FOG is better than most sites..

This week I've got SWMBO's second cousins (or something like that) car parked out front, with a blown head gasket.

It's a Saxo, so I thought I'll have a looksee and find out what torque settings etc would be required to fix said car.

I find my self at a certain dedicated forum...that was utter (self censored words).

Why FOG is great....

1/ decent moderators
2/ members direct each other to relevent threads
3/ willingness to help eachother out with good information and a personal hand if required
4/ FOG express
5/ nobody is really bothered that I've only got a 2.0 sport and not a 2.8 td, i still get helpfull information
6/ People here actually know what they are doing (members and Mods and the other lot...oh Admin, that's the one)
7/ FOG is so darn easy to use.
8/ We aren't chavtastic..

sorry about that i'll get off me now.I just had to get it off my chest and remind myself what a happy place FOG is to be.

just to let you all know I've found out the torque settings and all the other bits eventually, thanks to a local library.

It just really made me want to get into the virtual world and get this run them all over.

We are more of a community than a group of enthusiats..

i reckon that your thoughts are about the same for pretty much every other meber on this forum,
I for one whole heartedly agree 'cos i joined when i got the wife a "lowly SWB" sport and needed some info on sorting a fuel leak, since then i have actually got my own truck and chequer late pickup'd it, lifted it, and done all sorts of other mods with the assistance of the other members.
Bearing in mind the most i had ever doen to any car before i got the fronty was put a stupid 4" tail box on an Orion, i know, i know i can honestly say if it wern't for FOG i wouldn't of even attempted half the mods i done.
As far as being a community you hit the nail on the head there, i remember going to the first meet and feeling a plum 'cos i am quite shy, or at least i was when i first joined, and the welcome i got was unbelievable. Personally i think that it is a continual loop in that people help you so you feel a want and a need to help other out where you can. Also i feel admin deserve a lot of praise and because i think a lot of what they do goes un noticed and without them the site would fall over in a matter of days.
I for one say long may it last and here's to the next meet 'cos the social side is an added bonus to a damn good site.

bolt max length 175.5mm

stage 1 tighten to 20nm

stage 2 tighten to 120 degrees

stage 3 tighten to 120 degrees

I only come on here as it was a part condition of my community service....

I came across FOG whilst online looking for an induction kit for my 2.0 sport, my first reply from my first post came from Drift within a very short time. Straight away from that first day I felt the spirit and community that is FOG. I have never known anywhere such a closeness and willingness to help fellow man anywhere else than here. (please excuse my grammer,doesnt look right to me). Admin and Mods are fantastic and so are all of our members

I'm another one. My local dealers told me my truck needed £900 worth of work that as it turned out didn't need doing at all. I was a bit suspicious so found FOG and posted a question about how to check for myself.

Within minutes Drift had replied and offered to come have a look.

I haven't looked back since. Help and advice are always available, and from people who know a heck of a lot more about the cars than any mechanic you'll speak to at a dealership.

Take today for example, AndySD1 came with me to have a look at what is now my new 2.8. Without him I might have bought a lemon and not known it, but with a FOG seal of approval I got me a bargain (of course this means if it does turn out to be a lemon it's all Andy's fault ). He has even said I can keep it at his place until I sell my sport and make room on the drive (my works van lives on the road outside my place so I can't put it there).

On a more serious note...

They are good bunch on ere which really helps...
and the admin/mods do enough, but not too much to ensure that the site is a sucessfull, interesting and relevant,
with a great balance of useful stuff, technical knowledge and pleasant banter...

This is probably the best website I have come across, without naked ladies being really rude...

Respect guys and well done...
and keep up the good work, it is appreciated although it is sometimes easy to forget all the hard work you put in behind the scenes...

10/10 for the administrators, mods and developers...a job well done

I too would have to agree with the above comments .... And I have to say that this is one of the best forums I have been on!

All the people that I have met face to face or have been in contact with by just PM's etc have all been *fantastic* Thank You ALL very Much!

And a Thank You to The Admin & Mods firstly because they and are extremely patient with me & they are all very helpful and work so hard to keep this forum the best ........
