Info about a Frontera 2.4 Petrol

Postby Thetford_4x4 on Fri Jul 17, 2009 7:24 pm

Hi I presently have a SWB Vitara Fatboy and some of the bits to do a 2 inch lift, but I have been offered a LWB Frontera 2.4 Petrol, its believe to have had a recon engine and gearbox, I cant remeber the year off hand

What I would like to know is, if I get the Frontera I will use it as a everyday vehicle as well as going off road, are they any good off road, what sort of MPG would I expect to get roughly on day to day journeys, I only get about 25MPG from my Vitara at present, also how cheap are parts and how much would it cost to give it a lift, say of 2 inches??

What is different between the A and B series Frontera's, which one is best??

Many Thanks
Ian

Ignore him above

You will get about the same MPH as the Vit but you do get a far bigger car and a lift is only going to cost around £35 to start for a pair of extended rear shackles and maybe another £36 each for longer rear shockers, then the front is just a matter of winding up the torsion bars.

Its a lot of car for little money, the 2.4 aint a rocket but its a very solid engine if looked after and serviced well.

We can find all the cheap parts here

I can't vouch for the LWB as I have a SWB, but my girlfriend had a vitara and she prefered the Fronty over it.
She found it more capable on pay and play sites, and found it easier to drive. When green laning she found no difference.
The only down side over the Vitara was it was slower on acceleration (not good if your running late )

Mod prices - the Frontera won in every aspect, and for daily use on a 28mile round trip there was no noticable difference in economy on either car

Hope this helps you a bit
