leaving fog ??

as some of you might know ive had some overheating problems so i took emily down to my mechanic, after a good look it was decided to strip her down & check the dreaded head gasket, if there was visible signs of damage then a skim & test would be carried out which all was duly done because the [ gasket was broken in 2 places ], the head passed its test ok so the rebuild has done however on completion & refilling the top hose is still pressurising & shes still loosing water ! ! !
just by luck but if theres nothing else members can suggest & it turns out theres a crack in the block etc then i think shes going to have to go, i cant really afford to then buy another engine,thats if i can even find another decent 1, & pay for delivery & then have it inplanted etc, i think i would have to cut my losses & either try & sell her or scrap her .

any suggestions would be appreciated guys

Have the core plugs been checked ??? Especially the ones under the injection manifold, may have dislodged one or more of them slightly due to the over heating.

Is there water in the OIL.... Head / gasket / Block?
head tested ok, new HG ..Was the block tested for trueness ie across the bores

Are there any VISIBLE signs of water leaks externally ?
possible pipe spit or even a jubilee clip loose

Is the Carpet wet?
Possible heater matrix leaking


Is the thermostat opening
as the engine warms up, if the stat does not open it will pressurise the system

Did your mechanic get the head skimmed when it was tested?

theres no leaks in the car, no leaks to be seen in the engine bay which i would assume would be the case if a core plug had beendislodged or moved etc through heat but having said that she never boilled up,she never ran any hotter than when the fan cuts in [approx 90 degrees ] & never into the red & the temp always went down when the fans cut in at the normal temp so i gota assume thats workin fine, its got a new stat so thats gota be ok as well. the head has been skimmed and checked

is your header tank ok, as we have just sorted simo-d car, his was losing water, and it had a small crack around the top just below the cap,

yeah the header tank appears to be fine

Sounds just like what was happening to Angelina at Bala. Turned out to be the bearing seal on the water pump. About £50 from motor factors

quick update guys, after visiting the garage today i learned that the water was being blown outa the rad almost immediatly after starting the engine& not loosing it as i assumed after the phone call yesterday which explains my mistake in my original post , so while watching the gusher flooding on to the workshop floor i suddenly remembered some advice given in a post advising to check the heater, so i did & it was only giving cold air, the heater pipe was then taken off & she was restarted, then it was noticed that the rad was only hot on 1 side so the fan was slowed roght down as it cut in, this somehow allowed the rad to fill completly with hot water,those 2 things seemed to of cured the problem because she stopped blowing water & the heater started to blow hot air im hoping it was just a persistant air lock !
after running for approx 30 mins without any noticeable loss of water i left her to be drained again tomorrow morning then reilled with 50/ 50 mix of water /antifreeze, then ran again for an hour or so before a test run and then after cooling down later in the day another level check.

im not 100% sure emilys ok yet but im feeling alot better than i did this time last night ! !

after picking her up yesterday pm, i had to top her up with a cup full this morning & now after running about all day [locally] including a trip to the p/o to purchase 6 months of car tax [more expense] having constantly checking the header tank & rad [when shes been cold enough] it appears that alls well & so emily is now back on the drive where she belongs.
at the moment im a very happy chappy but im sure that will all change again when i go to see charlie [ the mechanic] on monday for the bill

thanks mate, some of the advice & suggestions from the guys genuinely helped me out so thanks again to everyone whos posted in all my various threads in the last few weeks reguarding overheating problems etc
