Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollI agree with the one annual meet a year idea. Keeps it special and fresh. Would love to get more going on a local basis but members are thin on the ground down here. I think having a few days out on salisbury plains throughout the year might be feasable for a few of us.

Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollSaisbury is great, and I think that the Mids member would tavel for that, I know I would. I've use it many a time with the AWDC for trials and comp safari's
Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollI agree with Bernie on this. "Annual" means yearly so only one main meeting should be held. I do think though, that it should be held in a different area every year so that more members get a chance to attend. As was said earlier, Scotland is too far for those in the south of England to travel. Likewise for those in Scotland when a meet is held in the South of England.
Its obvious looking at the members, that there are more from the Midlands area. But if a different area is used every year, it means that everyone will have to travel some distance at some time in order to attend, (if they wish). On the other hand, everyone will get the chance to attend without having to travel too far, (if they wish). As Bernie says, we cant all manage the travelling because of personal issues. But we are ALL still members of FOG. Thats me had my say, thanks. Regards, Keith.

Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollI completely agree that with FOG members being from the 4 corners of the british Isles (and other parts of the world) we should make the effort to bring FOG to all. I say once a year for the big meet and a different area each year. I'll go to all of them anyway

Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollPersonally, I don't see what the problem is with having 2 meets a year.
That way if someone can't make one, maybe you can the other. Some members may only be taking their vehicles offroad at these events (i'm sure that isn't true, but it may be), and meeting twice a year would give the option of changing weather and track conditions. But i would also say that if there was to be autumn or winter meet, it would need to be close to bunk house or cheap b&b for those of us who want to bring the rugrats along. I can understand if the admins don't want to organise 2 meets, as that is extra work, but maybe someone could step forward and volunteer to assist? For what it's worth it was worth all the while
It's something unpredictable but in the end is right I hope you have the time of your life Green Day - Good Riddence (Time of your life)
Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollFirst of all its got nothing to do with admin not wanting to organise an annual meet an annual meet by its very name is once a year and we have had it this year
Fog has many meets organised by your local reps or members in your area which everyone is welcome to go to there is no need to wait for an annual meet to go to a Fog meet have a look in the social and events section to see what happening and if you see something you want to attend put your name down ![]() ![]()
Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollHaving looked at the Area Specific Events Forum it would seem we have 11 regions within FOG , moderated by 4 members (just working of the info presented) which pretty much divides the country in 5 , Southern England , Midlands , Northern England ,Wales , Scotland and NI and RoI .
As has been stated by other posters , we have had the 2009 FOG annual meet at Bala , this does not preclude any other region hosting events which all FOG members may attend , perhaps what is needed is a mechanism for selecting the next region to host the 2010 FOG annual get together ? I guess the bottom line is that where ever is selected will be to far for someone to travel , maybe the home of the annual FOG event will allways be Bala ? With members all visiting the different parts of the UK as and when regional FOG events are organised and work/holidays allow . ''Too bad it didn't thunder when you said that. That would have been cool. Like you're an evil genius or something.''

Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollHi All
Not sure how you are gonna take this but I do feel there is a bit of tension in the air and it makes me sad Challenges we all must face A new endeavour, a new place Having doubts and inner fears Countless are the falling tears We tend to want what we know Never wanting to let go Change sometimes is for the our good But often too late understood Onward we must march ahead Putting to rest all our dread The sun will come out tomorrow Putting behind us all our sorrow That which doesn't kill us makes us stronger We must hold on a little longer I know from that of which I speak Life is not for the meek There are tears and there is laughter Smiles and happiness is what I'm after Help me make it through the night I know in my heart .. all will be right If I can do it so can you Together we will see this through Challenges come to one and all Some are big and some are small Hold my hand .. and let's unite We can win this uphill fight Challenge I am up to you Onward I will march right through Sorry that I have gone wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy offffffffffffffffff topic

Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollWhere ever it is held, some people wont go cos they say its to far right. But with my job i can end up doin Scotland n back in a day, fair enough its 8 hrs travelling n i am getting paid but what defines to far. We did Bala, nice 45 min drive for me but the like of Krusher had a round trip further than the Scotish lot would have had right, but none of them came. So maybe its not the distance thats the problem but the funds to make the trip. So instead of us all givin each other grief, if the Annual meet was rotated as said earlier in this thread around the UK then everyone will get the chance to attend one that they can afford to, correct me if i'm wrong here guys.
Personally I would try my hardest to get to the meet where ever it was, be north or south but thats just me. Im not digging at anyone by the way guys just using Scotland as an example so no offence intended if it reads that way. Thanx, Mark BIG BOYZ WITH BIGGER TOYZ

Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollIf Im in the country Im deffo going to any annual meet where ever it may be, but two or three long meets on opposite sides of the country each year wouldnt cut it for me or my circumstances.
As we said though lets get some regional mini meets going and anyone with the time or fancies a drive can join them at any time.... get organising guys ![]() Ste

Re: next fog/frontera meet, pollAny one can arrange meets, the area rep status is given to folks who have a proven record of arranging meets on a regular basis, earning their wings so to speak.
Admin and Mods will help when ever possible and I find it fantastic when I see loads of meets being organised by the members even when I cant make it, it makes me feel good all the folks are meeting and keeping the FOG social side rocking. Dont feel bad not being offered Area Rep Status, it just needs to be earned, ask Fuddy Mucker he arranges the social monthly meets for the Midlands and the odd off road meet if he doesnt arrange them he helps out and actively encourages the Midlanders to get to the meets, usually on a Motorway services ( shady character ) Ste
