Any opinions??Any thoughts on this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 0390287550
Worth a look? Potential nightmare or a good project? Not sure what else could have been damaged, he has told me it happened a mile from home and he refilled with water and made it back. My biggest concern would be not getting to test the gearbox, but the fact it has 12 months mot and long tax suggest to me he was planning on keeping it. ![]()

Re: Any opinions??Head gasket I think I could manage and I could take my time as I could run the fronty until it was sorted. Not got alot of ££ so would be taking a risk and wondered if I could expect any other nasties due to the overheating. Got any details of the petrol one Dave?

Re: Any opinions??No More Nails, Duct Tape and a big hammer. Who needs a tool kit?!
Re: Any opinions??This is his reply to a question I asked him, does it sound like the head gasket or could the waterpump have gone, or both.
I was climbing a hill when the temp. gauge went to red so I stopped at the top, filled with water and turned the ignition and saw it had gone (water squirted out with the rad cap off). I was less than 1 mile from home so I carried on and it drove fine but like I said I can't guarantee it will start again. This was only on Monday. ![]()
Re: Any opinions??The answer is a little lacking in detail, but if water is squirting out from anywhere with the radiator cap removed, then it must be compression pressure escaping.
Blown gasket or cracked/twisted head are both possiblities. Topping up a hot engine with cold water is a recipe for a disaster ![]()
Re: Any opinions??That could have been an air-lock, or cold water going into a hot engine Jim....take a bottle of rad-weld with you and offer him 300 cash there and then.....mine drove back from Salisbury with a blown rad.....If matey stopped before the gauge dropped back to cold, then the engine still had water in it to work the sender unit.
I always liked the 3.1 engine, but its slightly less power than your 2.8. And its too clean for you to use too, so you'll have to keep the fronty and give jude this one What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
