been watching the news fiat are in talks to takeover
vauxhall in europe,anybody any comments,i think
it could be a bad move if fiat get hold of vauxhall
espcially on the jobs front they would i think shut
one or both factories over here and move production
to europe ie italy,its about time brown got his finger out of his
and did something instead of blaming other countries,what do
you think.

I heard a couple of weeks ago that Fiat were in talks with GM in the USA.
The rate things are going we are going to have no car production in this country at all.

yeah also heard that russian billionaire who owned
ldv vans now in admin is also in with fiat so if they do get
vauxhall anybodys guess what will happen.

i dont see the problem my self, if fiat want to chuck there money around then it wont be long before fiat sink with out a trace

Actually a Fiat buy out would be a good thing. Look at the other purchases they have done in the past and how they handle them. They don't enforce Fiat parts or design on the new company, they modernise, finance and improve the companies health and then enjoy the income it generates. The guys behind the Fiat buyout (it is not all being financed by Fiat themselves) know what they are doing, and at least one of them is a big VXR fan and is involved to try and help out one of his favourite car companies. They are not int his to strip VX out and destroy it, they want to keep with the good name of the company and make it better going forward.

Of course all of this is in a very early stage currently so nothing may come of it, but personally I would rather Fiat had a hand in the VX rescue than a lot of other companies (BMW and their history with British car manufacturers? Ford and their disaster rate with child companies?). At least with the Fiat plan there will still be a Vauxhall around for the forseable future rather than a strip and dump and only keeping the name for the prestige....

the one think that might kibosh this plan again will be the Germans putting conditions onto the sale.
