Just snapped one of the bolts holding the body to the chassis while doing a body lift (not enough wd40 me thinks ). Tried drilling it out but cannot drill it straight enough. It is one of the back ones on the outer edge. As there is another very close to it, does anyone think I would get away with leaving it out for a while until I can figure out how to remove it, and fit the new one & spacer? I appreciate it is needed, otherwise it would not be there in the first place, but it this a mot failure type problem or can I make do for a while?

Several options...
Leave it (I did, but couldnt condone it on here)
Get a steel puck to replace whatever you have, drill and tap it a conveniant size, bolt a bolt though the chassis and rubber puck to the new bolt with it sat up against the body. Then finish the lift, once the others are tight the one only sat on the body will be tight up and bolted to the chassis, tack weld the puck to the body in situ and jobs done.
Last option is to lift the whole body off to get enough space to drill it out.

I thought it was a fair answer, you gave him options, no mocking that I can see. Do we get a prize if we guess who sent the PM?... Oh Weave thinks the same as me

Don't have me getting a again, you'll have me in trouble againAlex, I really wouldn't worry about it, especially if it was off farmer. Lets wait until p8ush comes on and says if he thought you were being 'discriminative' against him. As a side note, whoever sent to PM needs to understand what discriminate means cc

I like that, really good description, I for one vote that all posts not relating to the original topic are scrapped, and we don't rise to it, and we wait for p8ush to come back and let us know how he got on

All, I have just complete the lift following Alex's advice, and left the bolt & puck off. I printed Alex's advice and took a trip with the Fronty to the local MOT centre for a second opinion. Their advice was as exactly as Alex stated. Leaving the bolt & puck off would not fail an MOT, but would only give rise to an advisory, or to repair as Alex suggested. If competent enough, weld a metal puck in place, or carry on drilling the snapped bolt out & helicoil the captive bolt. The testers own personal recommendation was 'leave it mate, I'll be too much hassle' So thank you Alex for your suggestions, and to whoever sent you that PM. I found no mocking, or discrimination on your post, only very good advice which I followed. Just what this forum is intend for.
