catalitic converter

2.2 petrol lwb 2000 reg. hi all hope i can get some help with this, when driving get to a 1.5 revs i get a vibration noise like the exhaust is vibing against something when i put foot down a bit more it disappears. so only does it at certain revs . went to a local garage sods law after a week the noise stopped the day i took it in , he took it up on the lift checked underneath says that the problem is the cat breaking up .
what i cant get my head around is when it was making the noise if i sat there reving the engine there was no noise only happend when driving, the price i have been quoted are £247---£272---£220 if this helps anyone for the future 3 different places thanks for any help

I had this on a Sport 20L , it was the baffles in the rear box of the exhaust, the exhaust was newish so got a new one under warranty.

As Drift says loose baffles...........it is more likely this than cat breaking,roll under the car & thump each silencer box (& the cat) with the side of a clenched fist a few times,you will soon work out which is at fault

hi thanks for replys it is the cat he banged it when it was up on the lift icant understand why it does it when driving but not when just sitting there reving it as fumes are still going down the exhaust

if it is your cat mate ithink last year i paid £90 ish fitted on a2.2 pet 97 also if you can fit they are on fleabay
