After removing the 2.5 Engine again to find out where my water leak was coming from and to cure an oil leak, I was wondering IF............................... I can mate the Engine and gearbox and install them as a unit. Engine hoist is here. Omegas, Yes you can 2.0 through to 3.0 manual and auto but not sure about the fronty

I dont think you can mate, but even if you could, there would be a hell of a weight do deal with.

I've looked at the unit and at the gap, the engine and box are not much bigger than a V6 with an AR35 auto box fitted and they go in complete, so I think that the only problem I might have is the cross member near the front diff. Iff ness i'll remove it

Lift unit into engine bay and lower the hoist and maybe raise the fronty at the same time

it might be doable with some help and patience but I would have though it would be easier as a whole to do the 2 separately.

the crossmembers under the car can all be removed to make access easier.

well i reckon he will do it i been to his house a few time and seen his fontera in various states of deconstruction,one day with dashboard out,with wires everywere ,the next with engine out,and a 2,3 diesel in place,then another with the original engine in,then out,heads off heads on,gearbox on gearbox off,in out in out shake it all about this chap has the patience of a saint

Well after getting the height and the right angle so that the box would slide into the tunnel, the answer to my question is...........................................NO had to seperate the box again but looking on the bright side I know the clutch is aligned
