Tank guard came off no problem - 8 bolts
Inspection plate (inside) - 4 bolts - disconnected electrics and pipes
Tank came away ok - 6 screws and 4 bolts.
Disconnected filler and breather and away from the truck it came.
It is in a sorry state and will need replacing. Even so, being steel, Weave was up for the challenge.
Even though I believed the tank to be near empty, we still managed to get 20l out of it
filled it with water via a hose and let it run through
Dave welded up two pin holes on the underside, but not before Postfinder tried to set fire to it.
Went back together rather easily, despite dodging the rain and hail showers, and was filled up with 35L of fuel. Started first time and ran without hesitation... until a couple of mile down the road when it stuttered a bit as I guess some water got into the pipes.
Got home and at idle heard the pump whining, so popped down the road to fill up (£30) - pump has stopped whining.
An excellent bit of Black Country bodging.
Cheers chaps
