Re: ombudsmanHi woodwizzard
Not sure if this is the type of think you are lQQking for http://www.motoring.co.za/index.php?fSe ... Id=2119835 hope its of some help to ya.. Regards Roo
Re: ombudsmanDepends on the area of the Motor Industry - for example, vehicle recovery is covered by AVRO, MOT and associated side would be covered by the DoT, General sales are usually unregulated, other than the credit side of things - apart from that, no not really.

Re: ombudsmanI would start with the local trading standards - might be a history of complaints that will help any case you bring

Re: ombudsmanOk try this its in the UK lololol
contact us consumer helpline open 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday * 0845 080 1800 (calls cost up to 4p a minute for BT customers – but are likely to cost more if you use another phone provider or call from a mobile phone) * 0300 123 9 123 or 020 7964 0500 (these numbers may be cheaper if you use a mobile phone or a phone provider other than BT – and will be "free" if you pay a monthly charge for calls to numbers starting 01 or 02) we'll be happy to phone you back, if you're worried about the cost of calling us email address * complaint.info@financial-ombudsman.org.uk (we will usually be able to deal with phone queries on the spot – so phoning might be quicker than emailing us) postal address The Financial Ombudsman Service South Quay Plaza 183 Marsh Wall London E14 9SR Hope this helps Regards Roo
Re: ombudsmanI think thats for financial issues rather then motor trading standard hon.
Re: ombudsmanJim, if you bought it on Finance, then the finace company can bring pressure on the company.
If you bought from a Main (franchised) dealer, their franchise customer help dept can do the same. We do come up against these things from time to time and its been our policy to "undo" the deal and get the customer into another vehicle we have in stock, usually without problems. I presume it was a used vehicle, not new. If the dealer isn't prepared to offer a replacement deal to keep your custom and you dont have finance on it, then you will have to resort to the courts I'm afraid. What have I told you about Thinking Erroll??
Re: ombudsmanHi Jim
Did you get this sorted in the end plz? Regards Roo
Re: ombudsmanNope. We are doing as trading standards tell us, as in writing letters, but the garage is ignoring us and not responding, which makes them look bad and us look good for trying to sort the problem out of court. Think this is going to drag on abit and end up in the courts

Re: ombudsmanWell, we have given up the fight on this one. It turns out that it is a lose lose situation even if we win the court case. It costs £550+ to go through the courts which can't be claimed back even if I win. If I take it back to the garage we bought it from I lose a days wage taking it back, a days wage picking it up and the cost of a hire car for however long they have it for. I don't want to deal with them as I don't rate them at all, so
Theres a VX specialist in Plymouth called JMA, ![]()
Re: ombudsmanHi Jim
Really Sorry to hear that, it seems so unfair that you've come up against a brick wall, on this one, Its a real shame that the Garage do not take their responsibilities or have any 'good will' towards you the customer.. All the very best to you. Regards Roo
Re: ombudsmanCheers Roo, as they say, the warrior walks away while the fool stands to fight. Sometimes you just have to hold your head up, turn around and walk away, knowing you are a better person than them.
