automatic free wheeling hubs

automatic free wheeling hubsI need to replace my automatic freewheeling hubs. The problem is identifying and finding the right ones. My vehicle is badged as a 1998 Nissan Terrano. It is “assembled” in the Philippines. I believe it is a rebadged Isuzu Wizard which is a version of a Vauxhall Frontera. Therefore Frontera is my best bet to find s/h parts. I bought some Terrano 11 hubs in UK recently but while they look exactly alike on the outside (and fit all the bolt holes) they do not fit the axles being 27 spline instead of 28. Terrano 11 is a completely different looking car. Mine looks like a Frontera (e.g. separate hinged wheel carrier) and drives like an Isuzu Wizard. It is a very good car indeed.
I have been told that the splines were changed from 28 to 27 in 1993. So please can any one tell me the number of splines on the Frontera front axle where freewheeling hubs fit. And if it is also 27 when did it change from 28? Or has it never been 27? What are the Frontera hubs like? Do I need to look for an older model? Help.
Re: automatic free wheeling hubsNissan Terrano is a Ford Maverick as far as I am aware. I'm not sure there was any cross-over with the Frontera.

Re: automatic free wheeling hubsMe too but a picture would confirm/deny
Re: automatic free wheeling hubsThanks to all. I tried up uploading a picture but is was too big. Then there is a suggestion that I use Photobucket. I went there but it is not somewhere I want to be or understand.
I will keep trying but it seems I have to resize my picture and I do not know how to do that except by Email. However there is no doubt that my car is a Frontera. What I would like to know is what the no of splines are on the pre 1998 Frontera. This same car was assembled here in Philippines until 2003. There is no Terrano 11 here. Thanks
Re: automatic free wheeling hubsOK think I have found out how to resize and it is attached

Re: automatic free wheeling hubsBoth my 1994 2.0i Sport and 1995 2.8TDi Estate have 17 spline drive shaft ends.

Re: automatic free wheeling hubsWhat make is the engine in your car
Re: automatic free wheeling hubsI wondered if it was a Honda Passport or a Jiangling Landwind but that rear door handle has me stumped.

Re: automatic free wheeling hubsThere are several major bodywork differences between Frontera & NISSAN ,having previously owner the pick up version I can assure you that what you have is a NISSAN
![]() Aside from the marked items the frontera was never produced with chrome bumpers, olso never had plastic lower door trims. Last edited by Road Hog on Thu Mar 19, 2009 3:14 pm, edited 1 time in total.

Re: automatic free wheeling hubsHiya,
Looks like a nissan D21 not a fronty to me mate. they did these with ifs...most were pickup trucks though (like the one clarkeson took across the channel) They have the same front end with the deep bonnet front edge and low front lights, and the same flared arches. Had one a few years ago...good tool! My bet is that your truck is nissan's equivalent to toyotas surf/4runner, an suv based around there ever successful pickup trucks. I could be that it is the older model that has been produced later under licence in the philipines, hence yours being a terrano1 but on a year that would imply it to be a mk2. Running gear should be the same as a 4x4 ifs pickup trucks and I would have thought the d21 hubs will be the fella's for you. There are couple of d21's that are being broken on ebay, they might be able to help with bits if can confirm they are the same. Check out the link below for a company in the uk that list manual hubs for the 4x4 pickups, d21 and early terrano http://www.ks-international.com/avm_hub.php Copied from their site...
