Re: Llangollen run review 15/2/09I have plans to get me out driving, but they don't involve Stanley, the fronty I have now. Wanna get something else, and do stuff to it
I think more of a snow squasher / track maker I took pics, but they are on Doris's camera, so you'll have to wait for them Later than planned - THATs the understatement of the year, god they can talk!! and they call women '01 SWB 2.2L PETROL called Stanley Bean

Great day folkes. We were true to form and refused to deviate from the track and simply had to shift a good 100 yards of snow. Lots of fun, waffle boards came out a bit, needed a few tugs to get me up, yet ran really well in places I didnt expect. Also found 2 nice new lanes to the South West of Llandrillo. Just got back, feet up see you all in morrow. Fronty no.4, pimp mobile Treg 3.2 LWB lifted 2.5"
Fronty no.5 2.8 swb hd coils +2" 31"machos.
Re: Llangollen run review 15/2/09A great day out with FOG yet again!
This is our day anyway. We started off with a nice trundle up the Llangollen climb, taking in some great views of the valley from the top. From here we headed up the lanes towards whitestones. This has washed out a bit at the northern section, since I last drove it, and after a thrilling climb we started to level out. It was here that we came accross the remnants of last weeks snow. After my first attempt at getting through it failing miserably, we backed up abit and just managed to skirt the worst part of it before heading out into the open moorland, the side slopes and water splashes. We stopped at LDC for a something to eat and drink and waited for the other group for a while. A few shouts on the cb, we couldn't raise them so headed off on our merry way and did a couple of gentle tracks around tregeiriog, meeting a very obstinate horse that refused to get out of the way After another toilet stop we headed down to Cefn Gwyn, a wrong turn on my part and we had to turn round and retrace our steps, woops We headed back to LDC and met the other group who had just finished battling with snow on whitestones From here we headed to the corwen carwash, which was at a nice level today, surprising considering the amount of snow melt in the upland streams. Here we bidded farewell and went our separate ways. Shame you couldn't make it Big Red and Mad_one, we'll have to sort another one soon. Big thanks to Ryan and Caz for being great company, hope to see you soon, Top day! Someone mention laning? Just tell me when and where!

Re: Llangollen run review 15/2/09Well what can i say............
Yet again another fantastic day and a great thanks to everyone who made it. The banter is a big factor to a bl**dy good days laning. But how come it's taken 15 posts on the day for any mention of the good samaritans that are FOG...... If we didn't pull that fella's car out of the hedge he would probably still be there looking around trying to work out how he got it stuck there in the first place. As for the prats on the quads..... It was funny 'cos as i walked down to get my truck they were all stood around saying along the lines of " but there Frontera's...", " There hoping arn't they if they think they will get up there", Blah Blah Blah. Of course i kept a straight face as they all got stuck in the snow and then proceeded to trash the place as they tried to get off the snow. I am nobody......Nobody is perfect.....Therefore, I must be perfect!

Re: Llangollen run review 15/2/09As mentioned a Cracker of a day... Thoroughly enjoyed myself
There was snow to be had, some rather smart recoveries made and plenty of teamwork not to mention some full bore snow runs. Im uploading pics now so should have them up later tonight or tomorrow. Furio pretty much summed up the day, since we were a bit later leaving and got held up for an hour or so with the snow we skipped the lanes we had planned to do before the way farer and went straight to the wayfarer after LDC. Stopped at the top and chatted to a group who had gotten stuck on the Western rocky entrance of the wayfarer, one of which was a 2.3 diesel Frontera. He was having some electrical problems and when he lifted his bonnet we saw why, the wiring loom had bee cut and spliced and bits added to bypass god knows what with some bare wires here and there shorting who knows what out. Didnt really know what to say on that one. The snow run was a hoot... It had elements of the epic laning day attached except it was reasonably warm and wasnt raining and the medium had changed from mud to snow and we were going uphill but it involved everyone mucking in and many attempts to get the first vehicle through. The only casualties were some wet feet. The quad bikers, somewhere between 10 and 20 of them were likened to nobs. After the snow run if they had waited for another 4 or 5 mins we would have had our gear packed up and would have been able to pull over to let them past. Anyway... After the Wayfarer we did a couple of nice lanes which none of us had ever done before, rocky bone shaking ones. but it finished off the laning nicely before heading to the Carwash. As mentioned it was a little higher then usual but only just above the first rail on the fence. Coming at it from the southern end was a new one for me as well as we usually start in Corwen as opposed to finishing in Corwen. Overall a good day and great company as usual. Thanks to Furio for setting the day in motion and thanks to Alex for the maps and being my navigator when my PDA had a hissy fit, thanks to CeekyChick for the pics and to Weave and Postfinder for the tea and biscuits
Re: Llangollen run review 15/2/09As promised some pic's. As usual photobucket has put them in some semblance of order but not the one I wanted but it gives you an idea. The bird was a twitchy one, it kept moving when I was taking the shot and the last ones are a bit sketchy going through the carwash, no flash and it was getting dark.
