I was invited with another few folks by my friend Colin who owns and runs 4xfun http://www.4xfun.net/ to check out a possible new off road driving site just past Ruthin in North Wales.

There was me a Surf a very heavily modded SJ and Colins Jimny.

We met up at the end of the M56 got just past Loggerheads looked in the mirror and no sight of the SJ we yurned around a found it in a layby a spark plug had popped out and hit the underside of the bonnet
I have the right sized socket, 5 minutes later it was back in and was running sweet :?

We got to the site it was very wooded and at first seemed tight, it was a guys garden  big garden on a hillside big hillside

We trundled around checking the routes as he has a LR club who use it, we made and selected a few routes and in our cars cleared and made the routes more visable.
A few piccys.

It got to about 1630 Si Xrihno and his Mrs and the kids headed of Home in the Surf, I had the great idea  lets do the Wayfarer :D it was hammering down with Snow 8)

After an interesting drive to Corwen we get to the start of the tarmac lane leading to the Wayfarer and it was sheet frozen snow, we Trugga and I saw a friend kill his Surf there a few years ago in the same conditions.

It was very interesting just getting up that lane to the top gate.

Once up, Ged jumped out opened the gate WOW snow and lots of it :D

Waited for Colin and Mike, they had an interesting drive up the lane to

I drove about one hundred yards and had to stop, not stuck but a bank of snow nearly three foot deep, no way we or anyone was getting through that.
The pics dont show the depth but it was deep.

Hey hey... Sweet dude. I did a bit of snow driving today in a bonding moment me and my dad decided we would do the Brithdir lane. There was a fair bit of snow but nothing like what you encountered.
I also drink Port and I'm not ashamed to say it!

OOOOO nice, how you finding the tyres Ste, I knocked mine down to just over 20psi and have been driving most places even with a loaded trailer up steep snowy hills etc. Still hardly showing signs of wear

One guy in the SJ had swampers on and the Jimny had Diamond back tyres on, they where all over the place and found it extremely difficult just getting up the tarmac lane as it was so packed with snow, I got up no problems with very little slipping.

In the deeper snow they where digging in to much, mine dug in a bit but not enough to stop me, until we hit the big snow that is.
Going down the lane the two other cars where in front of me and I could see where they where bouncing off the banks of snow to stop themselves skidding, I had mine in low box 1st gear never slipped once.

They did have the advantage on the private play site which was full of very slippy tree roots and the cars where so light.

All in all I was pleased, they do exactly what I want, nothing extreme but great all round.
