4WD Frozen

got into the truck this morning at 5am. Deep snow all around. 4WD is a must, me thinks. WRONG!!, could not engage 4WD as either the transfer box or the vac system was frozen solid The light just kept flashing and the 4H / 4L shift wouldnt budge. Had to swtruggle in 2WD for nearly 20 miles until it warmed up then it all worked perfectly.

Anyone heard of this happening before?

Ive heard of Citroen Picasso's gear selecting rods freezing, but twenty minutes engine running thaws them out.

You must have moisture in the vac system

or you could gat a a series

sounds like snow melted when the engine was hot and the water remaining froze over night or water particles in the vac system

i left mine in 4wd for an hour while i waited for the mrs and had a job getting out of 4wd when i got to tarmac

Don't get that problem with a lever mine just squeaks a lot

mine is the lever type that stuck for a few minutes

Mine and Andysd1's manual hubs where frozen locked last week when laning, took deicer and pliers to unlock them. they had a ball of ice around them
