Re: Weight Watchers ThreadHey Dandan, good on yer for posting it on here, the more people know what you are trying to do the easier it gets.
I decided to lose weight a few years ago while living in baltimore so decided to enter for a natural bodybuilding comp. I did this so I would have something to aim for, giving me about 6 months to do it. I started by just logging my current daily food intake for a week then looking at how I could make it better without going mad, the secret is to make small but constant changes in the right direction. By changing only a couple of things a week you adapt easily to a new lifestyle but be sure to write everything down so you can review what you have done. Bear in mind that now matter how much work you do in the gym it all comes down to calorie input/expenditure but dont forget to have cheat days, these help you by knowing that you can have the things you miss but only on one day instead of seven, they also help to boost metabolism again after six days of diet. If you would like any help feel free to pm me with your questions.
Re: Weight Watchers ThreadIt helps that my landlady (and best friend of 13 years) has just started Slimming World.
As for over doing it at the gym, cos I'm outta work I'm far from active so the gym helps. I'm trying to find a base line to work from at the mo so am taking it slowly. It is starting to take effect though and am starting to see evidence of my body shifting the fat (if you know how the body works you'll understand if not, Google it cos I'm not telling If you're sat there thinking things just can't get any worse, just wait......
Re: Weight Watchers ThreadWell I'm up extremely early this morning as I have an Ultrasound on my liver later today and I'm not allowed to eat after 6 hours before the appointment.
Still at least I get weighed again today, even if it does screw around with my schedule If you're sat there thinking things just can't get any worse, just wait......
Re: Weight Watchers ThreadWell, it's official. I have Non-Alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease (NAFLD). I wont know the severity of it until the everything has been collated.
In the mean time I'm gonna crack on with the changes I've already implemented and wait for the GP to call me in but it sounds like I'm gonna have to go on Statins and be withdrawn from my anti-depressants and mood stabilisers. I didn't get weighed but I'm off down the gym in about an hour so I'll do it then UPDATE: I have just got back and I have lost 2lb If you're sat there thinking things just can't get any worse, just wait......
Re: Weight Watchers Thread Hey Well Done DanDan, Thing with weight loss its far better to lose it slowly rather than quickly, you will find that some weeks you'll lose more than others you feel 'what's the point', but keep going, never get down hearted,(I know tis easier said than done) I wouldn't concentrate too much on the weight you are losing, not sure if you mentioned this before, sorry if you have, but get yourself a tape measure and measure around your chest, waist etc you will see the inches drop, maybe it will give you a better reading than the weight loss... Just concentrate on how you feel, and the more activities you can take part in and you will notice that you don't get out of breath too quickly... So keep up the great work your doing Good Luck Regards Roo
Re: Weight Watchers ThreadCheers Roo. You've been great with your support and ideas
Already seeing my heart rate dropping during my cardio workouts and my breathing is definitely getting less laboured. All I gotta do is try and stick with the no smoking this time The other benefits are that my moods are better and I seem to have more energy during the day The weight thing did get me down but after talking to my Doctor it seems the meds I'm on at the mo will slow down any weight loss. As for the measuring thing I've gained 2" on my waist and just over an inch on my hips I'll keep soldiering on though............. If you're sat there thinking things just can't get any worse, just wait......
Re: Weight Watchers ThreadReally pleased for you Dandan that your seeing some positive results there
I'm really sorry but I can not think why you have gained a few inches, unless its down to the build up of muscle, that's the only thing I can put it down to sorry I know when I have dieted in the past I don't have weighing scales in my house I just go by the measurement and have always lost inches, maybe its different for men, sorry I really don't know As far as smoking, unless its really in your heart to stop, then I think you may have a problem with this, the times where I have been told to give up and stop, are the times were I haven't stuck to it, but I did give up for 5 years once, but that's because I wanted to stop, tis a difficult call really, we all know how bad smoking is, but yet we still do it What you could do is work out how much you spend on Cigs a week and times it by 52 then you'll see how much cash you could save, you maybe surprised how much money your burning each week Keep up the great work Dandan.........' YOU CAN DO IT'! Regards Roo

Re: Weight Watchers ThreadWell I've had a real kick up the bottom today......
My scan results have come back and it seems that I also have fat deposits in my pancreas Been told the only thing for it is to lose weight and get my body fat percentage below 15%. Been referred to a nutritionist so now have to keep a record of everything that passes my lips Oh and discovered that it really does depend on the scales your weighed on cos the gym ones say I've lost 5lb but the Docs say I've put on 4 If you're sat there thinking things just can't get any worse, just wait......
