Re: is there more members in to Amateur radio on fogI listen to radio 1 on the way in to work every day....they certainly seem to be amateurs by the quality of their broadcasts!
Do I count then? Only joking.....used to have a big home cb rig many years ago with burners a half wave dipole, could knock loads of peoples TV's out, but other than the cb in the truck, the marine unit in my boat, and my scanner (interesting stuff sometimes on it) I dont really know too much about it. Looks interesting though....making stuff that you can transmit all round the world....good stuff Lots of gadgets and gismos is always good, have got a home recording studio now that is full of knobs and twidley things... Laters Gregster Check out the index thread below where pics/reviews from all our past meets can be found!!!!
click here for the SE Events Index/links Thread...see all the reviews and whats coming up soon! Looks like I'm in trouble with the Mrs's again... She asked me what I'd most like to do to her body... Apparently "Identify it" is not the correct answer! MAKE IT or BREAK IT! TEAMXTREME4X4 ![]()

Re: is there more members in to Amateur radio on fogI'm thinking about it, but cost seem a little prohibitive at the moment.
I am an authorised use of the MSA Safety & Medical frequency (call sign "Streetly 1"), but that does not count as amateur. Lawrence
Re: is there more members in to Amateur radio on fogYup.
M3 VXL (geddit?) usually found on 145.350 on motorsport events around Scotland. My son is M3 RXM. Like Laurence we are also MSA motorsport licensed - Vulture 20 and 20a. Come Laurence - it's not that expensive. We do a 1 day foundation course which you should pass, then under £200 for a good set & antenna. Cheers Jools Julian, Frontera A 2.0 Motorsport Safety Truck

Re: is there more members in to Amateur radio on fogI have wanted to do the novice licence for a while, but finding somewhere to do it, and then the time to do it is a bit of a problem at the moment!

Re: is there more members in to Amateur radio on fogJust got myself a CB. Used to do it a lot when I was younger (before the internet) and got my license, etc.
Good fun, however I can't for the life of me get this new one to work properly Its got power, a huge aerial and makes all the right noises but I can't receive or transmit anything. All new gear too. Any ideas? Was told I could need aerial tuned, though I doubt this would prevent me receiving anything at all.... I'm also not using a 'clean' +ve power cable, maybe I need a direct feed from the battery?
