hey frontys jus had a car down for nct irish equivelent to mot and they rev'd the b***x out of it i cracked up at the abuse and was told thats how they check emmisions i belived it like i belive in lepracons hows it done for mot???

They do the same here, there is also a notice to make sure you cam belt is in good condition as if it snaps while they rev its nuts off they are not to blame.
They can also refuse to put it through the test if they believe the cam belt to be in poor condition, gawd knows how they can tell though.

its a tangled web they weve and for the driving test you can fail for revin over 3000rpm between gears yet they have to rev the car till its nearly blown up to see if its road worthy

I've had 3 recently at different places, one petrol, two diesel, and the engine was left idling for the entire duration of the test.
Then of course they try the obligitary "attempt to blow the engine up" test on the oil burners.

Never seen them left idling before so i'm assuming this is yet another new well thought out edict from the ministry.

Wonder if the environmentalists have spotted the irony in all that wasted fuel for a supposedly green friendly emissions test yet??
Or perhaps the no win no fee brigade will get in first with multiple cases of poisoned MOT testers.....

The petrol and diesel need to be up to running temperature before they test the emissions, so thats why you will have seen them idling

Maybe i'll take out the stat and disconnect the fan so that they don't need 40 mins to coke up...er...warm my already hot engine.

aahhhhh now i know why the heating in there was on low with ice outside. Silly me!
