advice on buying a fronty please

im seriously thinking about buying my first 4x4 vehicle and im swaying towards a fronty, ive trawled the net [e bay, auto trader etc] and have been looking at local vehicles for sale, now ive found a nice 1999 2.2 petrol 5 door, low mileage, 3 owners, some service history, good condition,ive sat in it and obviously had a good look at it,i couldnt have a test drive at the time because i didnt have the time for the guy to move all the other cars so he could get it out of the yard so i said i would return at a later date which up till now i havent done, the reason for that is this, im 6 foot 4 tall and in sitting in the fronty my knees were directly in line with the steering wheel which meant i would have to drive with the wheel between my knees [not the most comfortable of driving positions] unless there was any way the wheel could of been adjusted, either higher or nearer to the driver [if that makes sense] so as an after thought is the wheel adjustable on any models of frontys or are they static ???

Not sure about the B (ie a 99), but the A's had adjustable height seats so you might want to check it's not wound up.

Hi fixed height seat on ours, steering wheel has height adjuster on LH side behind stalk.
A neat leaver with plenty of adjustment. 1999 3.2

i looked through window of a a w reg on a [closed] forecourt this afternoon to see if i could see any levers of any kind but there just seemed to be a stalk on each side of the column, maybe only certain models have the adjustment & adjustable height seats ! just my luck to find the 1 model that sems to have none

The lever is on the left and runs parallel and recessed in the cowling.
We have 3A series and one has an adjustable column.
The B series is a 3.2 base model no aircon cloth seats but does have the adjustable column

I can confirm that the B series does have an adjustable column

Just adjustable in height on my R-reg 2.2 LWB but with the seat adjustment as well there is plenty of room, you dont sit bolt upright like you do in a Landy, you feel more laid back in a Fronty so more leg room. bonus. Happy hunting.
