Re: Retired GreyhoundsThere are plenty of greyhounds with no ears as the people that dump them don't want to be traced. Jo didn't like his ears being touched when we first got him but he is ok now because he knows he gets a cuddle

Re: Retired GreyhoundsUpdate on our Lenny. We had to take him to the vets last week because he had an infection in two of his claws. Because he was stood in the vets for over an hour and a half when we returned home he went off his back legs, we had to return him to see the emergency vet. She gave him a thorough examination, she took one look at him and said he was very ill, that his blood was toxic, his eyes were red with a purple glaze. This turned out to be because of the extreme pain he was in. She said that he had been raced to destruction and had so many old injuries ie, blown and stretched ligaments, scar tissue in his muscles and arthritis in his hips. The waiting at the vets had caused these problems to flare up. He is now going to be on painkillers for the rest of his life, (he will have a good life with us).
It is hard to believe what these dogs have to go through during their racing lives and then to be thrown on the scrapheap. ![]() ![]()
Re: Retired GreyhoundsAt least he is going to see a happer side of life, and the pain killers will give him the relief to enjoy it

Re: Retired GreyhoundsSorry to hear about Lenny, just glad he has a home that won't right him off. Most of you know my veiws on animals being used for sport, hunting, bullfighting etc and these people make me sick. These animals suffer at the hands of greedy bullies and for what, a few ££ and an ego boost. As Ghandi once said "a civilised society, thats a good idea".
