Right vauxhall alarm has now no power to it. After market alarm was a pager system to tell you the car was being interfered with. That is now removed. Car starts and runs. Have not got the guts as yet to take him for a run. Will wait til hubby gets home. I probably have no more recoverys left on my AA! The work that needs doing now is CV Joint Gaiter. Front suspension, in fact I may as well do it all including the leaf springs. If anyone wants to volunteer to do that I can pay them! Just dont have the budget for garage prices at the moment. Hubby is replacing fuel hoses I think. We still have to establish if there is an oil leak. The previous owner had some oil seals replaced 2 years ago it may just be old oil not cleaned up iyswim?
MOT at end of month so have to get a wriggle on. Bull bars wont come off they are apparently welded on. I can see me hiring an angle grinder!!!!

See how the test run goes - then if you are able to drive it a bit, come to the Midlands meet on the 16th and there'll be a whole host of us there that can pour over your engine and see what gives

Right just taken car out for short drive. Engine idle is lumpy. Not sure if you would say it was hunting or not as the rev counter doesnt move?? Engine seems to be getting very HOT. New rad must work as heater now works. Just need to top up the fluid again as it is almost empty. Checked hoses, prob didnt put enough in to go around rad. I am wondering if my head gasket is starting to play up?
Temperature gauge on dash still not reading temp. Prob faulty sensor? How do I tell? All the other guages work on dash apart from the dash clocksdont light up in the dark but have new bulbs. The creaking sound that I thought was from the doors I think is the suspension as it makes a creaking sound when I turn when manouvering slowly. But I have the suspension and leaf springs to do....anyone got any good ideas where I can get cheaper parts from? Thank you x

I have had enough. I have already spent a small fortune on the car. It's just too high maintenance. It hasnt been looked after by previous owner and I cant be doing with taking it to bits every other day. I dont have the skill or the money. I think the whole car needs everything checking over and replacing. So if anyone wants to make me an offer for it please do and I will go get a car that I can deal with easily. Thank you.

Ive had my Frontera for several weeks but have not been able to use it as it has no Instrument Cluster.
I thinking of making a bonfire with mine tomorrow!!

Stick with it, you wont regret it, they are a great bunch down your way they will sort it, though it may cost more in biscuits than car parts

Just think about poor Andysd1 he was selling/scrapping and reselling at least half a dozen times, he love his ole girl to bits now, same for his car

The rev counter and temp could be loose wires, well worth a fiddle.

The lack of power and possible loss of water is a concern. Have you filled and re run the car? my 2.4 came with no stat in it, replaed and as fine. Also at some point it split a rad pipe and it would loose water. Have you checked oil for contamination?

Creaking could be one of many, would need to see it. Havent looked at ball joints etc on a 2.4, theyre unique to that model I think.

cv boot, for quickness get a cheap glue on before the MOT.

Have seen other post, other than poss head gasket, nothing there a bit of TLC wont sort. If hubby can do fuel lines he can be guided through the rest. Till I came here, I had only ever done an oil change, come to think of it, I'm not much better educated now
