Landrover driving day.

I’ve just got back from a Landrover driving experience day. It was good fun but why do LR owners think they are the bee’s knees?
I turned up in my MU (Fronty sport) with cheers, clapping and booing. I have very broad shoulders so I ignored them and had a great day driving a Discovery, lumbering its way around but getting there.

At the end of the day I asked to take my truck around. This was greeted with more cheers and booing.
After completing the section I was directed across the road to another section. This was much harder, muddier and the LSD was working overtime but I popped out the other end to be met with silence. I stopped the truck and got out to be told that was the winch recovery training course, specifically designed to get stuck and then winch yourself out, not for a Sunday afternoon drive.

I thanked them for a great day and said I had to get going. No boo’s, no mocking just long faces, accept mine……not stopped smiling yet.

Nice one matey It is a shame there is still this funny snoby attitude from some, a bit of freindly banter is one thing and the 4x4 fraternity would be stronger if everyone accepted we all drive different things for different reasons. When we had a run on Salisbury the other week we passed a group of military vehicle enthusiasts, I had my window open and heard them mocking the fronty and laughing at us I think we had more justification to stop and rib them for wanting to dress up and pretend to be soldiers.

I find the LR types worth knowing soon respect the cars we drive. The rest have a habit of embarresing themselves

Over the last 6 months Ive seen many die hard LR addict move over and buy Jap 4x4's and they dont regret it one bit.

In not knocking LR but these days most people just havent the time or money to live under their car, and the now demand at least some creature comforts in the car that work ( ok it was a small pop at them )

has i have said before i when out with some landy's and got a lot of stick! i got put in a group with some very kitted out landy's(they were very nice motors) but i was the only one to get home with no problems or have to go and put more petrol in.

the insults wern't so loud at the end of the day

thats fronteras all over,spend the day off roading or green laning when your finished drop it back in 2 wheel drive,and drive home,do drama (well 99% of the time)

What a great story!

As i fairly new frontera owner I only bought one because it was going cheap, and I knew roughly it was related to the isuzu trooper which i've had before and thought was ok.
It didn't take long for me to realise that it was actually a fairly capable machine, even on balding road tyres, and apart from in deep mud (blame the tyres!)i've followed my pal's dicovery anywhere it can go. He's had his eyes opened too.

They have a bad reputation without any good reason for it.

I'm glad i took the gamble!

To be fair I only bought A Trooper because I could not afford a Landrover. I then bought my wife a Frontera because I loved the Trooper. You know 'little lady - smaller Trooper'. Then, after constantly using hers as it always has more fuel than mine, I decided to buy one for me as a play thing. Completly under rated trucks I love them.
